Bolty is not charging us for hosting (or installation of) our forums. Nor is he putting up a "See who's Lurking the Lounge! :axe:  " popup. However, the hosting itself isn't free. One of the reasons he's able to host us is that the Lounge is on a dedicated server with quite a bit of data transfer available per month. This hosting costs $100/month.

If you would like to contribute to these costs, see this page.

Thanks, everyone. It helps, since the costs come out of my pocket.

Griselda, I dig these smileys!

As you can see, I am just a user like any other on this board; I have no administrative powers. I installed the forum and then handed the keys over to Griselda, so besides tech support if necessary, you'll have to address complaints and suggestions with Gris. She did all the skinning work (which is a royal pain), and you have to admit it looks very nice here! Great job!

Well, hopefully, Gris wont get a big head, but, this is the best looking forum I visit. Easy on the eyes, even more so then the Lurker Lounge. (Sorry Bolty) The Lounge has nice neutral colours... but these are soothing and conductive to relaxing, reflecting, and posting.

Anybody find it rather funny that we are now lurking, hidden in the Lurker Lounge? A Lurking Lounge within the Lurker Lounge.

Hi,

A Lurking Lounge within the Lurker Lounge.

Magi just pointed out that in two more levels, we'll have our own L5 society :)

If you wouldn't mind, could you explain that reference? I'm kind of lost, here.

It is a reference from a game called Illumanti (correct spelling?)

Hi,

The L5 Society was a group that wants to promote space colonization as soon as possible. They were around for quite some time.

L in this case refers to Lagrange Point:

The Italian-French mathematician Josef Lagrange discovered five special points in the vicinity of two orbiting masses where a third, smaller mass can orbit at a fixed distance from the larger masses. More precisely, the Lagrange Points mark positions where the gravitational pull of the two large masses precisely cancels the centripetal acceleration required to rotate with them. Those with a mathematical flair can follow this link to a derivation of Lagrange's result.

Of the five Lagrange points, three are unstable and two are stable. The unstable Lagrange points - labelled L1, L2 and L3 - lie along the line connecting the two large masses. The stable Lagrange points - labelled L4 and L5 - form the apex of two equilateral triangles that have the large masses at their vertices.

That is probably more than you needed, and yes there is a reference to the L5 society in the Illuminati game as well.

If you are interested in more information take a look here which is where I got the above from.
