[EitB LVII] Es war einmal - Xist Fairy Tales

okay, impassable terrain is never part of the trade network.
So I should be thinking about turning the sugar farm in a platantion for the +1 smile ?
Still the question, if this is intentional, because the street on the mountain is a bad joke.

Bigger update maybe later, but I need a bit of advice.

Mig seemed to have found the barbcity here.
I can declare war to kill Loki, but I really don't want Mig to get the barb city - and I cant really block this. At best, I have 2 injured warriors and a potential combat3 adept to attack the flipped city.
Did flipping deletes the barbunits ?

How do would procceed ?

okay, the barb units remain in place, but if they behave like I think (change to attack mode) AND mig is reckless with flipping the city, there can be a turn where I should be able to snipe the city with a hasted warrior.
If mig tries to send a warrior first, i can be difficult.

You can't kill Loki unless he's in a city or has no place to retreat (surrounded by units or impassable terrain). If Mig leaves him in the city unprotected, it's probably worth the bad will to kill Loki.

I *think* the barb archers will try to move to a nearby barb city (or maybe the goblin fort?); if there isn't one, they'll probably move into your territory and try to pillage. This can be a real pain because even weak archers are hard to kill, especially on defensive terrain.

I can't really allow a Mig city there (in the moment) - Loki or not Loki. But if Loki gets killed, if I gets him in a city, this would be perfekt. Still, I don't think i will be able to kill Loki, because I don't think Mig will allow Loki to remain in the city.

I hope the archers move to the fort in the south - it has then 4 archers, but better there than in my territory.
Otherwise, I plan to have the first swordmen in 10 turns, so I should be able to contest the archers in most cases ?
Maybe no the best idea and 5 more warriors are better, because I'm already scretched thin a bit, but I think 1 bronze swordsmen for 2 warriors is a good deal and so I need to invest the prod in a trainings yard sometimes.

And I have sorcery in ~ 10 turns. I need to collect another turn gold and I have 2 sagas to bulb.
So fireballs are near too. I really need more adepts, so I think I will revolt to city states and nationalism in the next turns.
I think I will squeeze a 5th settler out of the capital before that ? So ~ 10 turns till revolt ?

Okay, Mig didn't took the city last turn. If Mig waits another turn, it should be size 2.

Interesting, I maybe need to resume the war next turn, because Loki is dangerous near the new city.

I took a gamble, that the Combat3 Griffin isn't player controlled. Otherwise, I'm down the crucial worker next turn.
But I didn't made contact with Auro or coldrain and I had relativ good visibilitry in the area. I don't think there was a Mig/Bing Hunter with animal taming.

Mackoti is recruiting a few animals with a faun in the west - still, all show the nationality.

Argh; I could have sworn I tested this and the gold showed up as a connected resource in the city screen - I obviously missed something, but I can't figure out what! So I'd say by Occam's razor that it must have been a memory error - meaning an error in my actual brain's memory. Of course this is compounded by computer problems (and then a bunch of family coming to visit from overseas, but that part at least was terrific!) that delayed this reply as well; I'm sorry about that!

No problem. The missing gold was a surprise, but I manage.

The next conflict with Mig seems to draw near.
He has a settler 3 tiles S of the life mana and a 4 warrior + hunter escort.
If Mig waits till the escort is near the city, I'm not sure If I can win a direct confrontation - but I will have sorcery the very next turn and can bombard with fireballs instead.
If Mig only waited till the city is size 2, I he will convert next turn and I will attack after that. I'm relativ sure, that Mig didn't saw my culture - but maybe he saw the culture "bleedthrough".

Very interesting turns.
I think, I'm in a need of a bit of advice.
I will post a bigger update in about 7h when I came home from my next exam.

DaveV, if you could arrange to write something about it before my next move in ~ 24h, I would be grateful.

A bit later, I havent got the early train back.

What's the status here?
Well, not good, but with some potential.

The capital.
Will finishing the 5th settler next turn, then I need a few adepts.
As you can see, I'm researching writing next turn and have 2 sages in the capital.
So wizards upgrades are possible from next turn on from adepts with 10 exp.

Schneewitchen is the only city with a training camp and can therefore train 5 strenght units.
The plainshill is currently being mined.

I also want to build a unit building in Rotkaeppchen soon. Probably a mage guild.
Then adepts here too. Although I should also add a few worker.

7 Geislein is the current conflict location.
Mig has converted the barbarian city.
The 5 units should hold against many things, but unfortunately nothing works offensively at the moment.

Frau Holle was recently founded, primary reason ? Ivory.
Possible access to the Standing Stones.

The next town should actually go to the Standing Stones.
Just risks pissing off mackoti.
c? or one directly south of the natural wonder.

A major obstacle to attacking Mig is the fact that both barbarian archers remain in the city.
I can't do anything about the 4 :4staerke: with ~ 75% bonus.
If they had moved as expected with Loki's cultural appropriation, the city would most likely have fallen and Loki would have died.

There are 2 more warriors and 2 BT in the southeast.

Interestingly, 2 battered griffins are hanging around here.
Also a hunter from coldrain.

Demo is terrible, I'm 2-3 cities behind the players I know.
So it's good that Mig is such a good mage target, right ?

But with only 2 adepts, it doesn't go that fast either.
You can really think about whether I invest ~ 4 rounds for the UB. That would be 4 (soon to be 5) additional XP for 6 (7) XP.

Why do I need advice ?
Should I provoke Mackoti with a city near the Standing Stones ?
This would grant access to all 4 elemental mana, so Tower of Elements is possible. Strenght 5 fireballs are a good reason, or ?

And should I change to a military footing and try to invade Mig or it's better to harrass with fireballs only ?
I see no real reason, to remain at peace.
