Last turn I revolted to Nationhood, Apprenticeship, and Conquest, timed to coincide with RR starting an archer. Hopefully later today when this turn gets around I'll be able to do a detailed update. smile

I'm planning on building another settler here before Bowyers, but first I'm going to squeeze in a few archers to upgrade to Firebows.

Magic, magic, get yer magic here folks! Oh, and you may notice, MM has a small food shortage. This is because I forgot that I would lose one of the happy faces from the Cave of Ancestors due to switching out of Religion. MM had hardly any food stored, so I went ahead and starved it back down in order to avoid the -2 food hit from the extra population.

Future head of production, and the city I plan to be building most of my Firebows in. Borders expand next turn, so I'll be able to add several more hills, a piggy, and some incense to CC's set of shiny workable tiles.

Mustard Mount

My newest addition, another future production crank. Not much else to say about it.

Not that I have any idea who the heck built it.

Anyway, I've finally reached a conclusion: my plan has finally reached 0% chance of success. I'm going to be really excited when I can read some of the other threads, because obviously I've been totally outclassed in this game, and I really want to see what they've been doing.

Of course, then again I'm not sure I WANT to see what the lurker thread has to say. smoke

Well golly Miss Molly, where the hell did they come from? Looks like I got myself a barb city somewhere about. Fortunately with a little help from the nearby garrison of CC I think I have it under control:

If my past experiences with barbs are correct, they should halt for one turn before attacking (presumably so they can piss up a tree or something), so I'll have time to get a third warrior into the city. Only one of my warriors has Combat 1 while all of theirs do, but in addition to normal city defenses they're attacking across a river so I think I'll be fine.

Anyway, enough business, back to fun stuff! I got my first adept last turn, and you bet your buttocks I promoted him to Metamagic 1 and began scouting the area!

Presumably that mountain in the last shot is part of the dividing range between two wedges.

Warrior stack held up, as expected, and I got a third warrior into the city. Now to lean back and watch the experience roll in. (I hope!)

Tatan Wrote:No no no, you misunderstand me. The players asked for a builder map with a ton of extra land and a ton of extra safety, which is exactly what you made. I had a hell of a time dot-mapping it, too (in a fun way smile). I have simply discovered that I do not actually like intense builder games, partially because I already experienced something very similar in (BTS)PBEM11, and partially because my planning is smoke. I fail to see how you could have satisfied the players' criteria and still magically pleased fickle me.*

*That said, what can a guy do around here to get a triple-gem floodplains start? Sheesh.

Hey, Tatan, sorry for taking so long to answer to this comment of yours. Hope you can still have fun while playing the map. smile

By the way, that Zelda picture brings back some very good memories. Ocarina of Time is probably the most meaningful game of my childhood (albeit the pic is from Majora's Mask, from what my nerdiness can tell).

Turn 92

Yay. smile

Turn 93
Not much happened. I finished a few archers, shuffled around some defenders.
Oh, and I discovered Bowyers. :2dance:
Interestingly, the cost of upgrading an archer to a firebow is the same as the extra hammer cost of building a firebow instead of an archer. In other words, if I am running 100% gold, all those hamlets and villages I have just turned into production tiles. devil I knew Ingenious would make upgrading much more efficient, but for some reason I forgot that I would still be able to build archers after unlocking firebows.

More techs required before I can do anything crazy, though. Festivals at the very least, as markets will let me accumulate gold MUCH more quickly. Frankly, after that I am tempted to just crank the slider to 80% gold or so and never look back. May as well see how many firebows I can accumulate before the game ends in 30-50 turns!

Turn 94
[Image: pic13.jpg]

:wink2: Well, looks like I'm not going to be attacking the south! Fire resistant pyre zombies are not my idea of a fun time. Looks like it's time to go north or bust!

Oh, and I elected not to send a message to Uberfish or anything. Since I found him with a floating eye he might not even realize we have contact. Operation: Leave A Bad Impression put on hold (for now :D).

I should be able to see his graphs and city count now, too, but I forgot to check. Next turn...

iirc, archers will be able to upgrade into firebows until

1. You research stirrups
and
2. You have a stables in the city
