Lord Parkin Wrote:I thought that the 2 hour thing only applied to the last person remaining to play the turn - i.e. Catwalk.

I'm very sorry Parkin, I posted before confirming what happened myself. Here's the rule:

Quote:Double moves: Allowed. Only if you’re last to end turn or didn’t end turn at all you’re not allowed to do anything during the first 2h of the turn.

Since Catwalk played last, Parkin didn't violate anything.

Catwalk....stop violating nono

Well let's clear this up. Catwalk actually didn't play at all. The way the rule is written IMO they are both prohibited from playing in the first 2h of the next turn.

Quote:Double moves: Allowed. Only if you’re last to end turn or didn’t end turn at all you’re not allowed to do anything during the first 2h of the turn.

(Parkin was the last player to end turn.) But I could also see an argument that if someone doesn't end turn at all then the person who ended turn last shouldn't also be punished, and maybe this was even how Plako intended it to be. Opinions?

This is further complicated in this situation as, as far as I can tell, it looks like Parkin ended turn a minute before the timer ran out. So it certainly merits application of the double-move rule in spirit at least. Luckily, this appears not to have been relevant.

The real reason I played with such little time to spare was that I was too tired at 3am after a day working to do the testing, so I went to bed and set my alarm specifically so I'd maximise my sleep while still being able to play my turn before it flipped. Is that sad or what? lol

The rule is clear. Neither LP nor Catwalk should act during the first 2h of the clock. It was written specifically for the situations like this so that LP wouldn't get a reward from waiting for a last minute to act just because someone didn't remember to end turn or couldn't play.

LP you're setting a bad precedence here. Why do you feel you need to have these special privileges? Imagine everyone doing this. End the turn, when you can! If you feel you need to monitor worked tiles, follow civstats like a hawk and log in accordingly.

It wasn't clear to me, and apparently not to some others either. Good to clear it up. smile

An occasional circumstance where I need extra time to check something is hardly cause for a witch hunt. I've played last twice out of 30 turns so far... pretty average for an 18 player game. Neither time did I cause any measurable delay to the game. Several players have played last far more often, sometimes delaying the game quite significantly, with little to no reaction. You think maybe the persecution is a bit uncalled for? wink

This is no witch hunt. I hope you understand. I just don't want to avoid PB4 shanigans so I'm gonna be a annoying to everyone that seems to be playing with the timer, even if it just a single incident.

I don't speak for everyone, but I don't think you're being persecuted. I bet if you'd just apologized for your mistake immediately there wouldn't be all this discussion. But since it looks like you're trying to say what you did was fine, people are telling you that it isn't, in general, fine.

Can anyone check if I did indeed miss 3 turns?

I don't think so. I only see you losing previous turn. If you did lose more, they were lost long time ago.

Actually a lot of the discussion escalated before I even had a chance to see it. But for the record, I'm sorry for misunderstanding the rule. I hope that in turn, you can see how multiple players could genuinely misinterpret it in that way.

Looks like 2880 BC, 3280 BC, and 3440 BC to me.
