Re: Mack's complaint, yes. He got screwed. However, he is comparing himself to Miguelito, who got the most luxuries, so while Mack's distance between himself and Mig is huge, it's not so great as between Mack and the others. (Not an excuse.)

Quote:Miguelito: How does he [Mackoti] not win this game? No idea, somehow us and Auror splitting Cairo, and then standing firm in a united front agianst him? That doesn't sound like what usually happens in these games.

Quote:Mackoti: And even more I see he [Miguelito] has  rice as well , and that would be for me  5 comerce which means 8 beakers or gold .

Well you cant win them all I supose.

I'm not sure if Mack or Miguelito is more convinced that the other is going to win. crazyeye

OK, I know it's been a while, but this part is genuinely not true. My starting area had only 2 land-based luxuries (Gold and Sugar), and one of those (Sugar) was under jungle. Incense is not a real luxury since it only provides happiness with a building, and I don't think that Pearls are an obvious luxury that everyone will be trying to get. Other's had Wine, Cotton, Ivory, Dye, Silk, Gems, as well as Gold and Sugar. I had all these floodplain and no way to effectively use them because my cities had such a low happy cap. With smaller cities I fell behind on tech right from the get-go, and that gap only ever got wider.

I won't argue. (I want to. wink ) But at the end of the day, player experience is what matters.

Here is a link to the scenario file, if anyone wants to look around. (I think this is it. We went through a lot of versions trying to get one that worked.) Good game all. Thanks for the reports.

No, please do argue, I think it's useful, and I'm not being acrimonious or anything smile . But, perhaps come to my thread to do so. I have a better post about my thoughts on the map there.
