Gotta agree with that. I think the "Experienced Ded-lurker" should just be someone the player can Tap for information and clarification of issues.

Just someone to raise a cautious "are you sure?" to ideas of exploring Epic Dungeons early and explain why it could end badly can be a great help. Half the information you need for the game isn't even in the Civopedia after all. It certainly doesn't tell you about the awesome power that is Agristofarms.

Gaspar Wrote:I had expressed some interest in playing in such a game, and I am still interested in playing such a game, but I have 2 caveats:

1. I'm pretty experienced in BTS, and also relatively experienced in BTS multiplayer. How good I am at it is entirely up to the imagination, however. Still, if this is a true noob game, I don't want to be the shark in the pool that ruins it all.

BTS and FFH are two completely different games.

smile Last time I checked, Ilios, Ichabod an I aren't in the same FFH games. :neenernee

otoh, I do understand your point.

The way I see it, the point of this game is to let FFH newbs get their feet wet with some advice from some vets, not to let the vets play through surrogates.

Quote:I guess I'm sort of on the fence. I'd like to get involved in a FFH PBEM, but I've played a lot of FFH since I posted originally and I would call myself competent at this point. I wouldn't want to play a game against the really strong players on the site, because I'd get crushed, but I think I'd be just as happy to play in a relatively "normal" game where we're just keeping the skill level of the players relatively equal.

Put me down for a maybe, depending on what kind of rules/logisitics/settings we apply.

That's what ded lurkers are for. (well, that and pushing up your spoiler thread post count)

Are you going to ded. lurk someone Ravus Sol? or are you just popping in to help?

Either way, thanks.

Edit: Also, i haven't seen anything i disagree with in this thread so far.

Also, to Mardoc, i'm afraid i'm off the list for you, since i've never played BtS, i only got it because FfH required it wink

Now what is the definition of a noob in this case? Simply haven't played a ffh PBEM yet?

Overall though i think your requirements are little too strict. The best way to start a new game is to see who here is interrested and then go on from there.

Anyway, despite having 2 exams coming in may i'm interrested in participating in another one. I can also ded. lurk someone if you'd like, although don't expect much from me.

TT- sounds good to me! I have a few specific ideas for this game though but i'll discuss those with you privately. shhh (mostly just that i want to toy with some of the newer features rather than just play this as close to BtS as possible).

I've also spoken to Bob and he may, reluctantly, agree to be our lurker. The way i understand his role though will be that we make the decisions, he just advises on the FfH side of things and makes us aware of techs/units/abilities etc. Heck, as it stands, i don't even know more than a few of the civs so got a lot to learn!

Kyan: We've actually explored almost all the civs already both early and mid game. The sole exception seems to be the Bannor... due to erm, unforseen and unfortunate circumstances. For all the rest however, i think each thread belonging to that civ has a good explanation about it.

(By far the most documented is either Kuriorates or Illians, thank to the efforts of PB and Selrahc.)

I'll take a read through. Thanks Amelia.

Oh, i meant to say before, PBEM's get a *lot* slower per additional person so i would heavily advise 6 people at the absolute max. 4-5 would be preferable. I don't know how that would affect gameplay at all but it's a big step to ensuring at least 1 turn per day.

i can be someone's dedicated lurker if anyone still needs one. No one needs to be afraid of me helping too much at least wink
