Personally I think even with arcane lacuna, thatvampire spam is still stronger then a losha beeline.

Outside the BFC if you settle in place, things may and probably will still change.

What's up with me playing the Khazad and a plains filled map?
![]() Just kidding. Thanks, Mardoc. Though if you read this before sending the map, can I get 2 warriors at the start instead of a warrior and a scout? A tad more important than giving DaveV a Bloodpet instead of warrior .

But the last game I played as Khazad (PBEM VI) was a map without any grassland tile, only desert, tundra and plains. Of course, compared to that map, this one is a paradise. ![]() And there's a crafting happiness resource, I really can't complain.
Recent start, bit production weak, but that can change...problem is we don't seem to have enough mines available to justify an early pop.
Gonna bet on a copper at capital though. What was the descion re:mirroring?

No mirroring, I think. Maybe in the capital, for general balance, but not on the map. The map is supposed to be natural looking. I expect similar power Capitals, but a lot of differences on the rest of the map.
And we got our first turn!
Hopefully everyone is still here.Upon opening the save, one of the major doubts I had about the early game proved to be already solved. DaveV casted his WS, growing to size 3 on turn 0. Another effect of DaveV's WS is that it basically confirmed that we all have the same capital. As you can see from the screenshot below, the best demographics (obviously from DaveV) fit perfectly with a plains hill city working 2 oasis and a wine tile. DaveV is off to a big advantage with the good starting terrain. I'm happy for him. The decision making in the turn was pretty simple. Here's the situation that we had: Settling in place is obvious. It's either that or risk walking with the settler to an unknown location, which doesn't fit my style. So, I went ahead and settled in place. Tech is also pretty obvious, at least the first one. We need agriculture to improve the wheat and farm. We already have crafting for the wines. The next tech will probably be more difficult. I don't favor Agrarianism in this particular scenario. It's easy to get too much food in FfH and I don't think we need it here. The difference would only be noted when building a settler, since we cannot match the 4/0 grassland farm tiles with other tiles (the wheat loses a hammer with Agrarianism, so it's the same when building a settler), but that's not worth teching calendar for, nor losing the turn of Anarchy. I'm thinking about going AH after Agriculture, to improve the sheep. But that can change, of course. Any opinions on the subject? I figure the +9 surplus from wheat, sheep, 2 oasis and city tile is enough for the city, but maybe we'll want to farm the grassland too and only cottage plains (yes, I favor cottages here). Ah, and I need to do some math to see how long it takes to reach Education, less I'll be stuck with a unemployed worker. I decided to build a worker first. Only after ending turn I realized that maybe growing could be an option, but I highly doubt it's worth. So, worker it is! Warriors went exploring. One of them will probably head back home after a bit exploration. |
