RBP3 [SPOILERS] National Pastime (Rapoleon_Hi of the Aztecs)

I was looking at the screenshot of your capital and wondering how it could need 99.94 turns to grow...

So... Will your next city be named 60.97?
I have to run.

Yes, I believe that you are correct. Funny - I didn't need to look the first one up ... but I did need to look up the second one.

btw - my scout is called 'lfm'. I haven't named my warrior yet (I keep forgetting) but he will be called 'Block'.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I did met exploit this turn. Meditation is 141/144 beakers ... the religion is still available. No other worldly news to report.

Oh - agriculture will take 10 turns, worker due in 11 - nice.

One of the huge benefits of being in a single player (or limited player) teams ... the speed of communication.

It is with joy that I find that I am not alone in this dry, desolate world. My hope is that the great nation of the Aztecs can live comfortably side by side with your great nation so that together we both may thrive. As you know, I am situated to your North, some 6 turns worth of travel (or 12 turns for your slightly slower fellow). Feel free to make the journey so that we can share food ... and maybe our warrior types can participate in some friendly wrestling.

My one true hope in all of this is that we will become fast friends.

Now - out of character ... don't bother trying to swarm my capital, I already have a warrior in place . From observed and participated experiences in these games, the teams that do the best are the teams that don't need to spend too much time worrying about security. The need to form strong partnerships in this game is even important given the tech trading rules. It is my hope that the Aztecs and the Indians can form a strong partnership so that together we can both make it to the end game.

from me on Feb 2 at 11pm Wrote:Greetings Exploit,

You will notice a scout off your South East corner. I am just avoiding a lion in the area so will skirt around your borders on my way further West. How are you planning on playing this game? Is your email handle a clue?

Have you met anyone else yet?

from exploit on FEb 3rd, at 5:50am Wrote:Greetings Rapoleon,

You are the first civ that I have met. I have only scouted a little way to my east and north (sufficient to find my next city site and return home to fortify my capital). You are welcome to skirt my borders with your scout.

Based upon the gang rape currently occurring against me in RBP1, my intention this game is to make a very solid game long alliance with one of my neighbours. This would give both of us a back-to-back defense allowing us to concentrate our expansion against our other neighbours. It would also allow the two of us to coordinate and trade tech. I would be willing to join tech alliances if my ally so desired but the intention is that the two-way alliance would take precedence over any tech alliances. I demonstrated in RBP1 that I keep my alliances and deals even when it would be to my benefit to betray an ally (unlike others in that game) therefore I believe I make a strong ally. Any interest in such an alliance?

Regardless, I am certainly willing to trade tech for equivalent value in the future.

Regards,
Exploit

Now - who appears devious and double dealing ... having to think and think and think about their response? And who appears honest and above board?

Quote:Exploit,

As I have demonstrated in pbem1, I can do very strong, game long alliances. Be aware that there is a civilization between us (to your East and my West) that appears very non-communicative at the moment. However, they are a team of 4 so they probably have to check and recheck each others contribution to the message.

heavens be praised! An email from India.
Quote:Hi Ruff,

Greetings and well met! Especially because your Aztec tattoos and piercings will be perfect for body paint night at our capital, the hottest spot with the hippest tunes in all of the "online empire building strategy games with your internet friends" universe!

Ok, having chosen an in-your-face theme for our cities and units, we won't force you into reading party-speak in each email. Anyways, India is pleased to meet you. You're our first meeting as well, and we've only explored the area immediately around our capital, so can't really offer you any scouting advice.

Your news of having already built a warrior is very well received! Especially given that we saw that your capital of 99.94 has recently grown to size 2! We (or maybe use some sort of DJ-name for the C&D department) must assume that you have a 2 hammer capital. Or that you're lying to us, but we're sure you would never do such a thing to us!!!! :-)

Finally, we also agree that close cooperation is useful. As you know, several of the members of our team have worked closely together in past pitboss games, and we know that you have been a good and true friend to Dreylin in RBPBEM1. Plus as RB veterans and potential dogpile targets from the new teams we have even more reason to work together. We are considering heading to alphabet...have you given any thought to your potential tech path around the time alpha is discovered? We certainly welcome any and all ideas about how we could work together technologically. We feel as you do that early military distrust helps no civ, and are open to any sort of agreements that may help us be more comfortable with one another. Last but not least, please chat with us sometime. We can be reached via GChat and email at DJCivilization@gmail.com

Best,

-DJCivilization
How did they know that my capital was called 99.94? Sure, it is the 3rd best city (stupid game rating got it wrong again). But does that show the name to others? We don't have a trade route do we (No - no sailing tech). Maybe one of the lurkers could provide that answer.

And what is this about having a 2 hammer capital? They must know that I settled on my first turn - do they think that I lucked out and started on a plains hill (as if Sullla would do that!). Guess my working the 2-1-1 tile fooled them - funny that I was working that tile for the extra commerce, the hammer was just a bonus.

Did they just accuse me of lying? Way to go India! Make friends and influence people!

That is like a robo-call that says 'How would you vote if such and such was a sheep loving pillow biter?'

Well - you probably know this already but Krill wants a reload. I buzzed him via gchat and asked him ...

so - why do you want the reload? (I was totally fishing, I had no idea that it was him)

He said: Using my interpretation of the rules, someone violated a combination of rules 15, 16 and 28

... which is the double move / war declaration / turn splitting rule. Well, everyone knew it had to happen - that we would get engaged in a mid-game double move rule discussion.

Rules ...
Quote:Poll 15: Dividing Wartime Turn Splits -
*Attacker's choice (attacker chooses when to declare, defender get opposite half of the turn)

Poll 16: Permitted Actions During Wartime Turn Splits -
*All non-unit actions allowed - No moving units, promoting units, upgrading units, or drafting units, aka the Apolyton demogame rule

Poll 28: Double-move Rule -
Modified RBP2 double-move rule
(a) - All settler moves that result in ending a turn in neutral territory must occur 12 hours (in-game) after the last movement of that settler, if applicable.
(b) - REMOVED
© - REMOVED
(d) - When in doubt, act in good faith.
(e) - Upon declaring war, no unit may be moved until 12 hours (in-game) have passed from the unit's last movement AND the attacker has to have (secretly) followed the turn split rule the turn before the declaration of war if they wish to be able to move first during the war.
(f) - (a) is waived for the initial settler
So, from reading civstats, Krill declares on someone and claims first half, that someone moves a unit (there is nothing else on the list they could do at this stage) and Krill claims they shouldn't have moved the unit.

Guess they moved their warrior back into the capital.

But doesn't Krill have to have followed the turn order the turn before? He was the last to finish, so I'm assuming he moved his unit, ended turn, declared and wanted first crack. Now that is a double move!

Hmm - looking at civstats, you can see Krill waiting until the last person played last turn. Then jumping in playing their turn and then logging out 14 minutes after the turn rolled.

SleepingMoogle logs in, plays his turn, logs out finishes but returns 8 minutes later - forgot a screenshot?

Lobo.Thibron logs in, out, in, finishes turn and then pause before logging out (5 minutes)

Krill (Lord Vetinari) logs in after he sees SM or LT log in and logs out just after SM's second log in and just before LTs.

My bet that the attacked party is LT and that LT and Krill had an in game discussion about LT 'illegally' moving his warrior back into his capital.
