That's nothing... See that writing tech being completed up there?
We have a master plan in the works*
*But neither of us feels like writing it down yet. That might or might not change by the time we make it happen

Looks like Mardoc and co are going to show that Water Walking and OO are indeed overpowered. We can expect a Drown/Cultist world tour soon. Priesthood has just moved very high on our tech wishlist.

Still here:
Founding our first coastal city in a couple of turns. Costs are getting higher, so I'm thinking Festivals for a couple of cheap Markets to put us back in the black.

Mind Twist has been founded:
Festivals in end of turn. A round of cheap Markets all around will put my finances back in the black.
Demo's:
Yes, I'm second in food, and Lanun have double my food.

Has it really been ten turns since last update?
Don't worry, you haven't missed much. We grabbed Sailing, Trade, OO and Philosophy.
And we built:
I'm going to try and skip Aristofarm (my cities are growing much too fast thanks to all the extra food), and instead aim for a hybrid Specialist/Cottage Economy.
I'm hoping to get another Priest soon, so we can build the Shrine, and keep expanding at full research rate.
Next turn we'll probably have to do a turn of 100% gold to fill the empire treasury.
Octopus Kilmorph?
We grabbed OO for a number of reasons.
- Allows us to turn neutral and go Undercouncil
- Border pops
- Extra happies thanks to OO Temples while running religion and access to Incense
- Extra Sage slot to further leverage the Great Library
- Allows for us to counter any Lanun invasion with Water Walking units of our own
- we need more religions (?)
Expansion area:
Cyan dot is a sure thing, but I'm not sure about Pink dot. That is a lot of jungle...
Demo's:
Someone's at 115K Soldier points. Getting nervous...

So, me and Mist were discussing and had agreed to make a run for Military Strategy. The free Great Commander would allow us to fire a Golde
Oh...
Well, poot!
Going into full propaganda mode, I think this is a good thing, because this means we can concentrate on getting Arete, to allow us to upgrades Thanes to:
Yes, Paramanders have now been moved from Fanaticism to Arete, and at 6/8 strength, will be a strong addition to our defense forces. The civic will be sweet as well, as the empire is already working 15 mines, with more to be added soon (The Arete Civic adds a hammer to each Mine improvement, allows rush buying and gives a 20% boost to GP production, need to running Kilmorph as state religion).
Finally, a look at Shallow Grave, with the enhanced Sage Specialists (thanks to the Great Library):
Go beakers!
T94:
So, with the Great Commander gone, our new goal is trying to grab the Form/Titan, mostly for denial purposes:
Nicol Bolas will build a Warrior, adding the overflow to the Granary next turn, adding the overflow to the Poseidon-statue the turn after.
The Rack pops its borders, courtesy of the OO Temple:
Oooh baby, gems, that's two extra happies empire wide gents!

So, no...
Uberfish grabbed the Titan a turn after I wrote this, at least the Lanun didn't get it!
T97:
Ending the turn, good news:
Ooh baby, great profits!
I think with the occasional Courthouse in big, far flung cities, I should be able to keep costs under control, and I should be able to stay in God King for the foreseeable future. God King and Financial gets me to 75% extra gold. Add in a cheap Moneychanger, the Undercouncil civic, the Bazaar of Mammon and the Consumpion civic (if I ever manage to leave the Religion civic) for big, hedge fund sized bucks!
To the right you can see my next city site, grabbing those beautiful Gems.
I might be feeling good about my little empire, until I see this:
Now, the Lanun have used the free GCommander to fire a Golden Age, but those figures are pretty daunting. Hopefully we can get a little dogpile going here...
And finally, a word on Galleys:
Three move, four unit capacity at only 33 hammers. Is it me or doesn't that look a tad overpowered?

The new Galleys are fantastic for settling mostly safe zones and shuttling stuff between areas you control, but they die to pretty much anything which can attack them. I personally wouldn't feel very secure invading anyone with them.
