Intersite Game - Turn Discussion Thread

UniversCiv finally claimed their team and played, moving on T0 and the immediately founding their capital at the start of T1. I've added this to the Google Docs chart - more thoughts on this in a minute.

Turn 1 - 3960BC

Moved warrior to the NE as planned:

Jungle up there and nothing else immediately noticeable. Feel free to have at it with your best tile-bleeding analysis. Where does the warrior go next turn? Another move to the NE looks best to me, suggest away with your own thoughts.

Demos after playing the turn. Not a ton of movement here. However, there is one item of note: "Rival Best" production is now 3, not 2. This indicates settling on a plains hill and working a tile with one production, which sounds like nothing special. However, when swapping tiles around, the Demos also reveal that all of the other teams still produce at least 5 food as well. (When I have us at 5 food by working the grassland tile, we are still listed as #5 on Food, dead last, which means every team has at least that much.) This means that UniversCiv is currently working a 5 Food / 3 Production setup. Is that even possible? Not normally, but it's doable on this start. Going back once more to the starting position:

UniversCiv moved on the first turn, settled on a plains hill, and is working that 3/1 forested deer tile. This makes sense because of their awful Hunting/Mysticism starting techs. We don't have any locations that would qualify for that opening without a borders expansion, so therefore their start must look slightly different. But I'd bet that the teams likely have similar resource distribution at the start (corn, deer, bananas, etc.) Just speculation for now - what else are we going to do though?

Warrior NE next turn (that should not reveal any new tiles, I think) and then another NE movement afterwards, I'd suggest.

E, SE to see if there's anything good by the river.

I'd say E-SE as well. Exploring the jungle area is probably not quite as pressing.

Agree with this, we won't be settling in the jungle for a while so getting as much map info on the areas we can settle ASAP seems like the best move.

The tiles revealed by E - SE will be revealed by the border pop anyway in a few turns. Since we won't need to decide any settling locations before that, might as well go for the big circle with the warriors.

I agree. No point sending our warrior to explore tiles that'll be revealed by the capital's border expansion.

Go NE-E or NE-NE before turning southwest.

No they won't. The hill will reveal significantly more to the E and NE.

May I suggest that whoever does the turn log in the turn log-thread links the same post in this thread from that one? So people can find the discussion of a specific turn easily.
