I'm trying to kill as many of the melee as possible - not because I think I can save Wealth, but because I think I'm going to need to if I'm going to hold a line south of there again.
Got to make Suboptimal earn this one. Crossbows in 4 turns. Building archers next.
It's unfortunate that Wealth of Nations is in such an indefensible location. But with a second city before making contact you aren't thinking about defenses, you're looking at best yields, and those gems were too nice to pass up.
I've also forgotten about Victor this entire time. He's been over in Res Publica. I shifted him over this turn but it would have helped if I had done so 5 turns back. Hopefully it wasn't too late.
Suboptimal picks a rushing leader and what has he gotten for all his hammer investment so far?
Nothing.
I queued up a pair of settlers. Gambling that he's going to take a mental break here and I'll have time to get 2 more cities out, because I only have 3 cities to my name.
