[SPOILERS] 3 Players, 1 Civ, No Clues - Tatan, Nakor, and Serdoa are Darius of Rome

Random comments...

Jungle is annoying short term, but we'll want IW sooner than other teams anyway, and Fin is always happy with more grassland, so I don't consider a massive malus.

We have at least 12 forests within our cap's third ring, so chopping out an early-ish wonder might be feasible (though maybe not optimal).

What are we going to do for a naming theme?

Serdoa Wrote:That edge is bought via the higher hammer cost of Praets. I think on quick it is 23 hammers for an Axe and 30 for a Praet? So pretty much 4 Axes vs. 3 Praets. And there goes your .5 more str. But anyhow, first lets have Iron before we discuss how to attack with Praets.

Good point, I didn't think about it that way. EDIT: 30h vs 45h on normal, so your numbers are spot-on. Maybe a chariot rush then? lol No one will see it coming!

Not to spam the thread, but it occurred to me that religions are going to be especially rare in this game. 7 religions is already a lot between 18 players, and AW means that we can only get a foreign-founded religion through one of two ways: getting a lucky spread from someone we haven't met yet but have trade routes with, or conquering and keeping a city with the religion already in it. If we want a religion anywhere close to the first half of the game, we will have to either get lucky with a neighbor going early religion, or snag one of the later religions with a bulb/slingshot (maybe Theology for Theocracy's +2 exp?).

Also, judging by the scores only 7 other teams settled this turn.

Settle in place it is then. Any of us can do that.
We do need a naming theme...

Going Agri-BW sounds like a nice in between option. After BW we can decide wether to go AH or Wheel.

Okay, got about 1 minute left before rushing to work, so I settled in place, confirming the island and no seafood.
Started us on Agriculture.
WE've got about 13 hours to change things since I didn't end turn yet, but we could end turn in my opionion.

Let me check some micro-plans for Agri -> BW and see if it is the better option. I don't like delaying AH that much tbh as not getting a 6-yield tile in play seems like a mistake to me. On the other hand, Pottery sounds reasonable to get some tech quicker, especially IW.

Ok, we'll have some time! lol
Maybe the hut will help a bit...

Not getting good units sounds like a mistake to me as well, we do have a target painted on our heads, I think... Rome always has...

Looks like you've run afoul of Parkin already, Nakor. That's much faster than last time. lol

Best of luck guys. thumbsup
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Ok, tried some stuff.

------------------------------------------------------

Going BW first I came up with

T30:

2 Worker, 1 Warrior, 1 Settler produced
BW, Agri researched, 72/172 to AH
6 chops used
1 pop
0 improved tiles

-------------------------------------------------------

Going Agri -> AH -> BW, farming the spices

T37:

2 Worker, 1 Warrior, 1 Settler produced
Agri, AH, BW researched, 87/103 to TW
2 chops used
4 pop
3 improved tiles (one being the farmed spices)

--------------------------------------------------------

I personally like the second one better. Late settler (~T25 if this was quick speed) but several improved tiles, better tech rate due to more pop and less chops used. I haven't played enough games to tell you what really is better long-term unfortunately, but my vote goes for the second plan for now.

I'd like to see how Agr - BW - AH would work out... Are you up to that, Serdoa?
And I fear we can't neglect our military as much as in a normal game. All workers should have an escort to protect them from double move steals. Don't you hate it when people steal your workers? smile

And can one of you guys please end turn.
Not a lot more to do now.

I'll end turn when I finished PBEM25 (thank god I am at home today instead of working).

As for Agri -> BW -> AH. I tried that and it isn't really anything good. I'll change it around a bit and see what is possible though. Maybe if I chope more as soon as BW is in.

Regarding escorts: I agree that we have to be a little bit more careful, but with all the jungle and hills I don't think we need that much military early on. Sure double-moves could be annoying but just keep our one warrior at home and he can take care of the worker and the cap. Turn 10 we have first border pop and shouldn't need the warrior in the cap if we are careful. I certainly don't feel like building military tbh.

Oh, and regarding people stealing your workers: You sure should have seen that coming :neenernee
