[Spoilers] SleepingMoogle's thread, better late than never.

Just got back from a week of R&R. Thanks a lot for keeping down the fort in my place Mist! smile I'll have a look around again later tonight, and will be ready to play the upcoming turns again.

Only two things of note

- you met Meiz ( scout arriving from the east )
- that barb warrior fortified in place and does not move.

Alright, I was about to ask where the Scout was as he's nowhere to be found right now.

Speaking of the east..

Me likey! So if Meiz is to the east of me (meaning I'm not actually on the eastern coast), we'll be trying to compete for this little slice of heaven. I'll definitely want to claim as much of it as I can.

That Copper resource is actually one of three right around the capital, so I got very lucky in that regard. AH will finish in a handful of turns so we'll see if there's also any Horses to be found nearby. I'm trying to figure out right now whether I should place the second city in the location marked in the earlier screenshot (it has a Copper resource immediately north of the city tile), or to expand towards the east. I'm kind of leaning towards the former right now as it's a safer bet since it can immediately access its Copper. A city towards the east will be a very nice one, but it will need to expand its borders before it can really grow.

Also, the second event happened this turn and it wasn't a good one.

The highlighted choice was the option I went with since I didn't particularly want to lose a forest, and the event didn't tell me which one would be lost. Counting myself lucky now that one of the goody huts earlier gave me some gold to work with.

Plan for now is to settle that north-western city, switching to Slavery once the Settler is done and whipping out a second Worker. Once AH finishes, the Wheel is next, followed by Pottery to get started on Cottages.

The second city went up last turn (T36). After killing that Scout of Meiz, the Warrior got himself eaten by a barb Panther. This delayed the founding of the city one turn as I wasn't going to let the Settler leave my borders without an escort when at least one 2-move Barb might be hiding in the fog nearby.

AH finishes at the end of the turn so the newly finished Worker can start pasturing the Pigs immediately. The other Worker is on his way to Bunker Rush to build a mine on the Copper, and probably a second one on the hill south of the city afterwards (the idea for now is to have the city focus on hammers early on while the capital builds cottages). Next techs will be the Wheel and Pottery

The Scout is still alive and explored a pretty decent chunk of the land east of the capital. He is currently plowing through the jungle in search of goody huts and other Civs, and just one XP short of Woody II which will speed up exploration a lot.

All in all, I'm reasonably happy so far though happiness is becoming a concern. Aside from Ivory, there's no resources within easy reach so I'm considering working towards Monarchy once Writing has been researched.

Oh tongue

Still, I'd keep the hammer over the commerce.

To be honest, the capital produces more than enough hammers for now, and I want to cottage those shrooms as quickly as possible once Pottery is in.

The only Horse resource that popped up is a fair distance to the west. The location looks decent enough to grab eventually, but right now it would be too exposed.

And this is why Ctrl-Y is the lurkers' friend. Especially with Ctrl-R as well.

That's a lot of events, then:
+XP
Truffles
Village Fire

In, what, 35t? 40t?
