[SPOILERS] Lewger goes for the Bigwyn

well I'm just floating out ideas at the moment. We don't need a specialist economy, HR/Bureaucracy will work very well as well, and our capital seems made for that. Also not certain I'd be confident landing pyramids with 10 other players, including 4 other IND civs.

But if we find stone in a convenient location? Who knows.

Use the [screenshot] tag instead of the [img] tag. Works the same way, put [screenshot] on one side of the url for the image and [ /screenshot] (without an extra space) on the other end of it. There might be a button on the post entry form for it, but I don't know for sure coz I always just type it smile

Heh, that's some great insight into what we should be angling toward with an eye on the future. For me it all comes down to the land we have around us. We can't do anything different for at least the next 20 turns other than Mining>BW and build a worker so we have a lot of time to plan. Hopefully our scout will find a hut to put us even with some of these other hut poppers. Considering our desire to go for workshops (which I agree with) I think MC and guilds tech line becomes that much more important than it already was. Do we feel like making a run at the Oracle is something we might actually consider even with 4 other INDs? I think we have to consider it if there's marble in reach. Remember in PB7 I snagged both Stonehenge and Oracle with a non-IND leader, with Boudica even. Part of that was I needed Stonehenge for monument happy and mini-cre and part was I had marble right there for the easy oracle build. Tech was slow there as well. Tech already looks slow here. Maybe? Pyramids are a definite possibility if stone is nearby. I'd rather go full cottage over specialist in our first cities, but landing mids could change that.

Beeline guilds? I could get behind that. Especially since we'll be using medieval units for so much longer. Getting workshops up faster would be key as well in building knights.

Great - thanks Pling!

It would only be fair! Let's pop Myst and Priesthood from huts and then get stonehenge and oracle! goodjob

or pop BW the turn immediately after we finish mining wink.

It would be nice if we get either marble or stone close by. Regardless, we are going to need mining->BW->TheWheel->Pottery in that order, most likely. we can reeavaluate at that point based on strategic resources nearby, and if any religions have fallen.

also keep in mind that oracle will be slightly less valuable for us, as I don't think we will have any interest in the collosus, even if we have copper. (collossus obsoletes with astronomy, and astronomy is not a tech we will want to put off. I don't want to be working too many coast/ocean tiles pre-steam power either).

Good point - let's pop masonry and build pyramids instead.

With Tech Trading off, I don't think the Mod changes tech costs - I think they're the same as base game. You can check of course on F6 next time you log in

well Krill beat me to it. But I can see why you would think this - the changelog is worded awkwardly. All the "these affects go into place with tech trading" actually apply to all games (well all the ones that could apply to non-tech trading games, like increased tech costs).

Somewhere on RB Scooter asked the same question and Krill confirmed, plus I tested it in single player (with the same settings as the PB). There is a definite slowdown from the late medieval era to the rifling line, and it only gets worse down the scientific method line and beyond. I'm really hoping we will still be relevant and the game still going when we get steam power, as the Dike is such an incredibly awesome UB on this map, but I'm skeptical the game will last that long :/.

Now I don't have a real feel for how the increased known tech bonuses will affect teching, though - since I played on Monarch. I'm normally an immortal SP and the Monarch AI just can't keep up with me. we'll have to see.
