[Spoilers] Fintourist and Old Harry have nothing to see here

Well, I suppose. Or maybe more of where do you rate yourselves in scaryness?

Depends what time of day it is...

So far I haven't successfully attacked anyone so I imagine I'm fairly low down on the OH NO ITS COMMODORE scale (I have fought off three fairly powerful attacks in 46 so perhaps I'm high up in the doesn't-taste-nice scale?)

Fintourist on the other hand seems quite good at attacking people. shhh

You haven't really had the chance to attack anyone successfully yet. 46, like you said, you've been defending all game (save for that one incident ...). Demogame, you felt you had to attack at tech-parity for "big-picture" reasons, which is generally not a promising proposition. I'm sure you'll do fine when you're able to attack in favourable circumstances, ie. tech superiority. The player-geography of this map will likely determine whether you're able to develop tech superiority over anyone or not - look how much Serdoa starting next to you, not me, affected 46. Anyway, I'm excited to see who we start next to and how all this pans out.

LEADER/CIV:

The process voted on to use for leader/civ generation is as follows:

Quote:Day 1 - generate 17 random pairings and post in team threads. Team responds yea or nay. Yea leaders/civs are removed.
Day 2 - repeat for all nay teams. Again, yeas are removed.
Day 3 - double nay teams are auto-assigned

Your first generated Leader/Civ combination is:

Lincoln of Mali

Please state in bold in your thread whether you want to keep or reroll this combination. If you do not keep it, you can have up to 2 more combinations generated for you.

Hum, I've never played a PHI leader (even in SP as far as I'm aware) could be fun... I've recently been wondering about playing a CHA leader to save having to tech to monarchy early on. I've read a lot about how slavery is now rubbish and growing tall is the way forward, so we could grow cities bigger and run specialists. It cries out for the pyramids doesn't it?

Mali would help us survive the early game without worrying about strategic resources and CHA skirmishers with barbs on could get a lot of XP up. I'm tempted by this. Mining/Wheel means we're not far from BW and can choose hunting or agri as our first tech to be completed before the first worker depending on our food source(s). Am I right in thinking we wouldn't want to build a lot of cottages?

BRick - Fintourist is due back tomorrow or Wednesday and Krill doesn't think the Mod will be ready until Thursday, so will it be okay if we hold off deciding until then?

Edit: And - more importantly - why have you got a capital R in your name?

Since the map won't be ready until next week, I don't see a problem with waiting.

Wow, just arrived at home 2 hours ago and it seems there is a lot going on lol

I guess I'll have a lot of catching up to do before I comment on anything! I'll expect to be on top of thing later in the evening (~6-8 hours from now)
Finished:
PBEM 45G, PB 13, PB 18, PB 38 & PB 49

Welcome back! I was starting to worry you'd decided to stay...

I don't think we need to decide anything straight away, so take your time. I got about 30 turns into an attempt with Lincoln of Mali on v2.02 of the mod. It didn't tell me anything about how good he is yet, but I did get annoyed that I had to research animal husbandry for elephants. rant

Anyway, I think you/us should make a fairly good showing in this, even if we probably can't win with those top three names in the mix ...

That's fair, so how do we get Commodore, Plako, Lewger and Serdoa to rage-quit too? (To be fair it probably wasn't a true rage-quit from Krill, my guess is he wanted a torus map - which I wouldn't mind as I think they're a bit fairer - and then did a mild-disappointment-quit. At least he got it out of the way before the game.)

But he would wouldn't he... nod Oh okay, I just couldn't think of anything else to say.

Just wanted to let you know that you're the last team to lock down your choice for round 1, but also that that doesn't mean you have to decide now of course. Like said before the map will take time regardless, but in case you wanted to know here you go.
