Any suggestions on the map? They want Continents but pretty much free reign after that. Do we want 3 continents with 2-2-3 or 2 continents with 4-3? Should be connect them with shallow water or let them wait until Cartography to meet the other side of the world? Do we do a straight up continents map with no other landmass, or do we do more of a continents and island map?

I would go with 4-3 with the continents having easy access to one another. There's a reason why NoQuitters played Pangea only and lack of diplo makes it even worse (more than compensates that them using random maps). So let's get to as close to Pangea as possible.
This is buried in the tech thread so let's put it here to access it easier
Bans:
- VA
- Scythia
- Hungary
- Maori
- Religious Settlements Pantheon
- Nan Madol
- No pillaging CS except for farms and fishing boats. If you DoW a CS with a Suzerain, you have to DoW the Suzerain too.
Pseudo bans:
- Civ picks by Civ
- No tactical DoW Australia
- Map handcrafted to make it hard to take out CSs.
---
Very similar to my orginal ban list. Only differences are no Suzerain rule and banning Australia outright. (Edit: Carebear map for CSs added) Let's see if it hold up.

I think the map is complete. My thoughts on it were to develop a 2 continents map where everybody has about equal land and 2 neighbors. Here is an overview I took when I loaded it to a SP game and let everybody settle...
Everybody starts near the outside coast and has a marsh rice, grassland stone, forested grassland hill deer, iron, and horses at the starting location. Everybody starts on a grassland but has teh option to move to a plains hill, while keeping the forested deer tile first ring. No one should have a luxury to start with but everybody should have a sea luxury within reach of their starting location. There are 11 city states and everybody should have access to 3, with the one location on the continent that has 3 players, has 4 (no real way to get around this). Here are the starts:
Player 1
Player 2
Player 3
Player 4
Player 5
Player 6
Player 7

I am thinking I need to move Player 4's start towards the center of his land area. Most likely to north of the desert, along the northern coast. It just seems that there is too much room between Player 3's start and Payer 4's and not enough with Player 1.

Also might add a few more city states, maybe on some islands between the continents. Should have at least 2 per player and right now there is only 11.

Rome vs Russia showdown! Russia isn't at 100% because they won't benefit from their Tundra start (which gives them an edge start), though.
So your going to make CSs start in classical?

No. I agree with TheArchduke. Plus, they should be all located in a place where conquering them will take some effort. All have a mountain next to the city center and most are on narrow peninsulas of land. Without boats, I doubt anybody will easily take out there neighboring city state and will take some effort to get to that point. Also, they are pretty spread out and it is going to take some effort to launch an attack before well into the Classical Age.
I will look to see if I can make them less appealing, maybe make sure they have limited resources or make sure it is hard to attack them all.

I made the changes and here is the overview shot...
I added 3 city states to islands to bring the total up to 14 (2 per civ) and moved the northern player on the 4-person continent a little east and north. This should even the spacing between players a little bit.
Edit: Looking at teh screenshot again, it looks like I add 4 city state locations. Maybe we go with 15 so that there is a north and south city state for both oceans.

Did some small changes, including adding a little more desert and made sure everybody had a natural wonder within their area. Also, I moved one of the city state locations, the one in the northeast of the 3-player continent. It was a little close to the eastern player (the one with 4 CS near them). Anyways, the save is made and here is what the overview looks like...
And here is the list of city states...
It is a little funny that the only 2 science city states are the 2 at the world wrap. I guess the one who gets a boat first will get a nice prize. Didn't see who was by who but you can tell the type in the overview map by color.
