So after a break, I have once more returned to try a game of multiplayer Civ.
I'm mainly in this to have fun and see if I can put together a strong performance.
Like always, I will try and update regularly, but I am soon starting a new job so there may be some early lags here and there.
Hopefully I can provide a much more positive
to
ration in this game.
Additionally, I would love it if any Game of Thrones fans (TV or Books) came to enjoy my thread. I've wanted to set up a discussion thread in the Off Topic section, but maybe it would be more fun here. Especially if a high post count makes my rivals exceptionally paranoid that I'm planning something.
Anyhoo, just for reference when I get my starting pic, here's the points totals
4: FIN
3: EXP, India, Inca
2: CRE, SPI, IND, ORG
1: IMP, PHI, Agriculture Civs
0: CHA, AGG, PRO, All other civs
Given that I am now on to pick, I think that it would have to take a heck of a lot for me to not take Lizzie or Sury as they are likely the strongest available leaders in this game.
Here's your start, enjoy:
Thanks Commodore.
I think that start settles it - Financial is going to be a big boon for that cottage capital. A good amount of food for some specialists and great scientists if needed.
Given that Fin/Phi will stop me getting an agriculture start (not that I really need one).
I need to decide between a Fishing/Hunting start of Fishing/Mining.
Fishing is needed for the crab and to ensure I'm just 1 tech from Pottery.
Hunting would mean I can research Animal Husbandry from the beginning which is good for quickly improving the Sheep & Cow resources.
Mining is mainly so I'm not too far away from BW and the whip.
Why not hunting/mining ? Is a WB really needed so soon ? I'll come back for the ASoIaF stuff at least.
Decided to make a quick sandbox to see what the starts may be like.
On my first go with Fishing/Hunting I had produced by turn 30:
1 (and a half) Worker, 1 WB, 1 Warrior & 2 Settlers
All food resources hooked up and worked asap plus a mine.
Techs: AH, Mining, BW, Wheel, Pottery, Mysticism
I could probably have change the emphasis a little to get Cottages going quicker and use the whip a bit more but I think that it would've compromised production. Working at size 3 with the 3 food resources to start with may well be the most optimal to get the first settlers and workers churned out.
Adrienier, My first thoughts were avoiding hunting/mining, but after the first sandbox, I may have a look at it and see.
I am wary about being an extra tech from Pottery though
It looks like there isn't any real difference between Fishing/Hunting & Hunting/Mining.
By the time worker 1 is out, both have AH researched and fishing/mining pretty much done.
And that's the same for Fishing/Mining - I can get Hunting and AH done off the bat and match the time of the first worker.
Feeling like a noob having wasted my time figuring that out when it probably was obvious.
So, are we allowed to post spoilers about GoT here?
