[PB58 - spoilers] AT's Order of the Civ

Everyone's now on 5 cities. Well, not SD and I haven't been paying attention to Jowy.

Whipped the granary in Haley. Now I have 3 granaries and strong food surplusses in each city, so go me!!

2 turns to a settler from Roy, 2 turns to a worker from Durkon. Both will grow and prepare to whip new settlers.

Elan (next city) will grow on the granary, then build a worker and whip that to overflow into the granary. Eugene will pasture the sheep then cottage the FP. Silver city I think comes from Roy, the southern fish/copper city probably from Haley. Durkon I think sends a city up north. That one has to self-build a WB,so that's a pain.

I should point out that I'm not all that worried about being out expanded. If I can stay within a city or two, I'll be fine, and having 3 granaries will help me do that. Being creative means that I push around anyone who isn't creative on border disputes and being Rome means that no one is going to settle up to me.

Founded Elan

I thought about making with Vaarsuvius, but I just founded Haley, so Elan seems like a good match.

Elan is the Chaotic Good male human bard in the group. He's incredibly good looking, quite naive and perhaps the dumbest person in the world, perhaps from his twin brother continually hitting him on his soft baby head when they were babies. Maybe. He sees significant growth as the comic continues, has a foretold happy ending and falls in love with Haley along the way. His family is a source of significant B-plotting in the series. Despite being ridiculously incompetant early in the series, he's very hard to dislike (I mean, for us - he drives Roy nuts). His genre-savviness as a bard does help out the order on occasion - his attempts to be invisible... do not.

Elan the city will be basically a pure cottage city - there's almost no hammers, so stuff gets built with whip and overflow. Will probably get it to size 2, build a worker to almost completion and then whip the worker, overflowing into a granary. We'll see. Well, on looking at in a spreadsheet,it seems like it will be faster to let it grow to size 4 and then 2 pop whip it, given the sheep and the FP.

I forgot to mention that Durkon made a worker a couple of turns ago, named Crystal. Crystal is a fellow member of the thieves guild Haley is a member of, except she's an assassin. She's also Haley's nemesis and, as such, gains levels as Haley does. She's not very smart - probably smarter than Elan, but then, so is Elan's horse. Haley hates her hair... she hates haley's lime green boots.

Unfortuantely, I made a mistake with the worker, and completed the road over the copper. This means I can't make warriors. I mean, it's not really a mistake to hook up copper - I just didn't mean to do it yet. I'll get over it, of course.

Looking back over PBSpy, Jowy is at 5 cities. Apparently, balls out expansion is the name of the game. Maybe I should have gone charlie again after all...

Not much happening this turn. Tarkeel has 2 scouts out, so he built one. Not sure that was all that important this game.

I think Tarkeel is N and slightly E - if I go up that penisula by Durkon, I think I'll find Tarkeel. I think Jowy is to my SE, though I'm not sure.

Plans:

Roy grew to size 4 - he goes to size 5 next turn and will grow to 6. I'll 2 pop whip a worker, to road down to the SE. He'll grow back to size 6 and 2 pop a settler, picking up a lighthouse on the way and growing onto a library (or maybe an axe)

Durkon is growing to size 5 or 6 and will 2 or 4 pop whip a settler.

Haley needs an MP - probably an axe -will grow and 2 pop whip that, overflowing into a settler, then grow back up and whip the settler as well. That might go to an island, not sure.

I can trade with both tarkeel and ruff. I think that confirms that I can reach Tarkeels' cap by boat by going NE. I presume that he can reach Ruff's cap?

No one has deer hookedup, which is predictable and also kind of funny.

Ruff only shows crab, fish and rice - tarkeel shows copper, clam, cow, sheep and gold.

I have copper, 2 clam, fish, pig and ivory. that means i've spent 60 extra hammers on wb, which is about a worker or an IMP settler difference. Given how good financial seafood is, i'm ok with that wink

I have 2 size 5 cities (those granaries are making their presence known) - demos look strong

Course, that will change in a few turns with pop whips, but that's ok.

Current plan is to run a settler in Roy for 4 turns (64 hammers), 2 pop whip and overflow into a lighthouse->axe. Settler will go to the silver site. Eugene (currently at Elan) will move there to set up by chopping the forest. - nope - changed my mind. It takes 2 turns to grow to size 6 in Roy. Then 2 turns of a settler gets me to 68 hammers needed, and a 3 pop whip gives me 22 overflow, which gets the settler out at the same time as before, but with more production from the 2 turns of an extra pop point.

Durkon grows to size 6, builds a settler for a turn and then 3 pop whips that, overflowing back into a lighthouse. Crystal mines a grasshill and then moves south to what will be V, the fish/copper.

Haley will grow to size 3 and will whip in a worker, overflowing into a workboat.

Elan is going to grow to 2, switch to a worker. I need more workers. I don't much like whipping without a granary, but I think that this is the best plan for now.

Next turn, I get writing. that means I can open borders with one of Ruff and Tarkeel, giving both of us a boost.

I think Ruff is the correct one. I think that giving more commerce to the organized guy is giving him an advantage, because he can use it more efficiently. Also, Tarkeel is keeping up with Ruff in expansion without an expansion trait, so he seems to be better.

I'm also paying more attention to power. I have a spear now, which puts me right in the middle of the power graph, so I don't expect to have any trouble wink the spear will go out to the silver city, which I think is the next to be founded.

I get writing next turn - I think math is next after that, to power up my remaining forests, then currency - but I need ironworking at some point and may need to make that a priority.

Serdoa is up to 7 and Jowy up to 6 cities. I'm still on 4. Serdoa is having a fantastic game, though I'll get 2 more in the next 5 or 6 turns.

Ruff accepted OB with me. Tarkeel asked for them too, but I declined (since it's not like they will help me or anything)

Serdoa is up to 8 cities. I whipped 3 pop whipped a settler in Roy and will do the same in Durkon next turn.

I have to think about whether I do a settler or a worker in Haley - I might do a settler and try to get a galley out somewhere and plop a settler on an island somewhere. I'm also thinking I will the Durkon settler north - fish/copper is nice, but it's not amazing. Pulling a settler from haley might be better

Got my settler moving to orange for V and whipped a settler in Durkon for light blue for Belkar. I decided to go north because it gave me access to the north shore and the land isn't covered in jungle. 7th city (Xykon) will go to fish/copper.

I thought I'd be able to found V in 2 turns, but it will be 3.
Belkar gets founded in 2, I think.

Roy overflowed 36 hammers, not 22 (I forgot about the ones it made)

So it will finish it's lighthouse (20 more hammers) and then I think it's a 5 turn settler. I might do 1 turn, grow and do a 2 pop whip - have to think about how fast it happens.

Durkon will overflow to finish it's lighthouse, too, I think. I'll grow on an axe, for a guard for Belkar. Hooking up copper is a good thing, but it does make making cheap MP's hard. But, no barbs!!

After math, I think IW then Calendar. I need to be able to clear jungle, but also praets make for a good 2 pop whip for Durkon/Roy, which make too many hammers to 2 pop whip an axe or spear. Plus, Praets are also a really good general MP unit - with a 20% culture and 25% fort, they are basically invulnerable before cats.

Strat layer view of where people are. I'm guessing on Jowy and SD, of course, but I suspect I'm about write. Toroids always mess with my head a bit as to relative location.

I'm trying to do better with tech choices.

My current plan is to go IW->Calendar and try to land MoM, probably in Haley, which looks like a good safe production center. The Forum should help me get GP out a little earlier, so longer lasting GA will be quite useful. Calendar also gives me 2 more happy resources + bananas, which I will need.

Alternately, I could go metal casting - Collosus would be quite good for me and I have a couple of tundra forests I am not going to chop, though tundra lumbermills aren't really all that great
