So actually that could be that yuri settled on the tundra forest 1SW of the cows if the islands are the same. Not sure that's a great spot to settle but it's definitely possible.

Turn 21 and 22 played.

Turn 21 there were 3 techs researched. I researched Mining, while Gaspadore definitely researched Bronze Working (the power jump is unmistakeable and they're the only ones who started with Mining). Yuri also teched something, and it's been 9 turns since his last tech, so I'm going to say Sailing. There was also a(nother) 2K power increase, which is consistent with Sailing. Turn 22 Pindicator also got a tech, which also looks like Sailing.

Turn 22 I became the 2nd person to get another city down

I did remember to road first, which allowed my cities to be instantly connected to each other, for +2 commerce right from the bat. Also borrowing the capital's (just completed) FP cottage.

These turns also showed everyone get their land points from the initial BFC border pop, which makes things a little harder to figure out.

It appears that Yuri's 2nd city has now grown to size 2 (visible from the top 5 cities page). It was only founded 4 turns ago, so I'm going to go with that it WAS founded on the tundra forest, and is borrowing his capital's FP farm (remember for him the FP farm and city location are reversed).

The problem now is what to research. The options:

1) Bronze Working. Good for chops mostly, but also whips and copper location.

2) Sailing. Getting some galleys and offshore cities (3rd city probably should be either on the plains hill with the stone and horse or with the western wheat)

3) Mysticism. That would be for a religion and then the option to build a monument to pop borders

4) Writing. Also a culture producer, and libraries for So Fat and So Ugly. Not to mention an early Academy. Academy seems like good option given the riverside cottages at So Fat.

I will be saving gold this turn and one thing I noticed is that maintenance is 2gpt instead of 1gpt as in my test saves. So not completely crucial to pick a tech this turn, though I'll "waste" 5 or so beakers in overflow if I choose the "wrong" tech.

The annoying thing with the 2gpt costs is that it will mean only 7 turns of teching rather than 15, before I have to save gold again.

Turn 23 back around. I decided to continue down the BW track, due at EOT28 (5 more turns)

Sian completed a tech which, corresponding with his last tech (Fishing) and the corresponding soldier increase, I am pegging as The Wheel. Oh noes! My monopoly has ended!

MonumentFirst moved 1NE onto the wheat and began farming

1.85 gpt, 1.45 of which is distance maintenance.

Using City Upkeep

Distance = 4 (3E2N = 4 tiles)
Difficulty = Prince (0.8)
World Size = Large (0.9)

DistanceMaint = (Pop + 7) * 2.5 * Distance/DistanceScale * Building_m * WorldSize_m * Handicap_m

1.45 = 8 * 2.5 * 4 / DistanceScale * 0.72
1.45 = 20 * 4 * 0.72 / Distance Scale
DistanceScale = 57.6 / 1.45 = 39.7

Probably rounds to a DistanceScale of 40 or 39.5. What type of world wrapping do we have?

No Wrapping: (0,0) is 40 units away from (30,20), so 31x21 is one possibility.
Cylindrical: A 40x30 map with "long" wrapping is about right.
Toroidal: Something like 52x52.

It's Toroidal I think.

I think, according to SevenSpirits' wizardry, that it's 64x40.

Does that match up?

It does.

Played T24. Definitely going back and forth whether or not to complete Bronze Working or swap to Sailing. In the end, I decided to stay on BW.

Pindicator settled a 2nd city this turn (well, last turn since he plays after me). He must have also gone worker -> settler which doesn't seem like a good idea for a non-IMP civ to me.

3rd ring borders popped, which makes it tricky to identify how much land Pindicator's city had, though I might try to analyze things in a few hours. At our current pace, civ should be back around to me by the time I get back from church this afternoon.

T26 played.

Gaspadore researched a tech, which I'm pegging as Agriculture and Pindicator teched a 2K soldier tech, which is Mining

Putting on my meta-game hat, I'm thinking that the copper is on the wheat island. Makes sense - horse and copper close but not immediately accessible. We'll see in 3t, but if that's the case, then the western site may be better than stone / horse island.
