Yeah, it's pretty much Serdoa's game to lose right now, which I'm sure is giving him a bit of an ulcer. Stronger economies where? He's been disciplined with his cottages, which is probably giving him better returns at this difficulty level than Mackoti's Growth-Retarding Representation Economy. One does not need Fin to blossom a CE.

As a newb I'm impressed with Serdoa's play in this and other games (ahem, the one I'm in), and you guys as veterans seem equally impressed. Is his breakneck-expansion style of play going to alter the metagame any, do you think? (Or is this a newbish question in some way?)

well its going to do this: Serdoa better damn well stop thinking of himself as a mediocre player.

You guys are writing off the others much too quickly. He's Joao of Inca. He's supposed to be way ahead right now. Long game still to go IMO.

And let's not forget that if there's a player who knows how to chase runaways and take them down by force, that's Mackoti. I've seen it happen in other games. All the other competitors are very strong too, but that's a particular strenght of Mack.
That being said, Serdoa is playing a very good game.

Yeah I should qualify that - I don't mean to marginalize the fantastic game Serdoa has played. But totally agreed - Mackoti does NOT give up. The other guys are pretty good at civ too.

if he can do that with 7 and novice blocking his path in an always war game, that would be most impressive indeed.

eh, novice does though, and 7 sometimes too. Gaspar has already pretty much given up. and Mackoti doesnt have a border with Serdoa.
