Civ 6 PBEM 2 Organizing Thread

For reference for whoever hosts, this is what I did:

1. Created game at the PYDT website with our desired settings.
 
2. In the game, turned off my DLCs (except Aztecs). PYDT tells you to go to Steam but I did it under “Additional Content” on the main menu.




3. Set up the game with our settings. It does look like we can give it a map seed (if that is how we want to do it).




4. Made sure every player was set to human and set the desire civs. I didn't set all the players to humans my first try at it and only noticed it after I played teh first turn and it was Player 1's turn again.




Played my first turn and hit next. Then when asked to play Player 2 turn, I saved the file and uploaded it to PYDT.




Uploaded it to PYDT and seemed to work.  One unknown right now is setting the play order. Do we have to join the game (@PYDT) in the order that we play? I asked the PBEM1 people in their setup thread. There doesn’t seem to be an option to set the order, unless I am missing it somewhere.

I downloaded the save, played my turn and got again an error when trying to upload the game.



I have no clue why the game thinks its the incorrect game turn etc. Maybe I need to reinstall Civ 6 fresh and see whether I can play the next test game. Else, I will have to bow out.

Anyone has any clue what is happening here?

Are you running any mods? Or have you tried disabling your DLCs? The DLCs shouldn't matter except for the person creating the game but not 100% sure. If you did disable your DLCs, is Aztec DLC enabled? Could your anti-virus software be blocking it somehow? Just throwing ideas around.

It sounds more to do with the client than civ unless it doesn't like your save. Maybe ask PYDT in thier forums?

I am reinstalling civ 6 as I had used some MODS that I disabled though. Maybe the game doesn't like them even they are disabled. Once installed again, I will try start those game that I setup myself and see whether they work.

I can't even delete them and they clutter my PYDT games list

One last thought, are you saving after you hit the next turn button, so that the next player turn shows up. So if I was playing player 1, this is what I would see when I save

Singaboy, I might know what happened. I had 5 human players set up and only 3 people signed into PYDT. Alhambram has now dropped out of that game and since you have not technically played, it reset the game and is asking for an initial save. I tried uploading the original save and it gave the same error you are getting. You are still part of that test game so I will create a new file with the settings for 2 people and we can try that again to see if it will work for you now. You should get a message when it is your turn.

Thanks Woden. I know think I know what my problem is. I saved manually without pressing next turn. Stupid mistake of mine.
I will try it out tonight. By the way, we have to be really careful with the order we join the final game as I think we cant change it.
And for my foes here. Now you know my weakness...cant even see the obvious at times lol

I'm just glad we're getting this kinks sorted out now. Is there anything I need to do at the moment Woden?
