Well, too bad to hear about your elimination, but you can use this as a learning case.

What went wrong? I (and lurkers) have said our piece (something bit harsh) in lurker thread, you can read over there. But I think that TheArchduke summed up it as best (in his own thread):

I fear that Japper pulled the same stunt as I did in PBEM #1 way too much expansion, not enough military and caught with his pants down.

But after PBEM 1 TheArchduke did improve himself at each PBEM and you can do same! I am seeing forward your game in future PBEM's!

Yeah I got caught in a "builder trap", like Archduke observed. It's harder to assess a threat when your position appears an isolated island. I'm sure if it were a Pangea/continents map (where I have more experience) I'd have wised up to Singaboys threat a lot earlier. Water is deceptive, you think you're save but you're really not.

 Getting so thoroughly defeated in civ 6 hasn't happened to me for months

Hmm, has it not now? I remember a certain recent game with a certain persons culture victory getting harshly cut off by an english invasion...  

But no, despite the mistakes you made, you have done your very best. It was fun to passively follow this thread. Better luck next PBEM!
