This time the bear didn't get me (but almost did, despite attacking across a river onto a forest hill).
And the elephant was kind enough not to stand on the city site. So, next turn I reveal the obvious choice for letter N.
The bad news there is that Aurorarcher grabbed circumnavigation. I would have liked very much to have that for myself, but he spent more resources on it, seemingly.
In the west, I killed an orc warrior and generated a slave on my first try (at a 25% chance). Slaves are half speed workers, who can also serve as tiny great engineers to add a few hammers to a building's production.

Nice of the ellephant to move off your desired city site. Sometimes they will just refuse to move.
Barbarians...win some, lose some. Ouch on the settler, though.

I got vision on the killer wolf:
The RNG really hated me on that attack, apparently. Four promotions -> tons of XP -> a win at ridiculous odds. Now he's standing where I want to unload, and I'd have terrible odds on an amphibious attack.
I failed to grab a screenshot of a new city this morning; I figured I'd be able to show it in the evening turn. I present Nudge Nudge, wine city (which was unintentional but appropriate):
The elephants moved out of my way, so I've also settled Oscar Wilde this turn. Note also my new set of traits. The F2 screen shows civic costs of 23 gpt, so there's my Organized savings. I would love to build some Command Posts, but I've never tested to find out what happens if I swap out of Organized before finishing one.
I finished Trade at EoT, so here's the obligatory tech screen:

I'm trying my luck against the animals again:
It's not a great city site, but I really want marble.
The griffon will be 4 strength vs. 5 (25% odds), and the wolf will be 3.6 strength vs. 5 (12.5%). Plus whatever is hiding in the fog...

That sounds like a hint of specific plans involving marble. Good luck against the animals!

Yay!
Ultigar is on a hill, so probably can't be cracked without collateral. It also appears to be on a shoreline, in case that makes a difference in the future...

I was so excited about building the marble city that I forgot to rename it.
There are a lot of good Python sketches, but this is my personal favorite.
Mr. Cairo is sending out centaurs. For exploration? XP farming? Sneak attack? All of the above?
At EoT I grabbed another "First To" great person: the Military Strategy Great Commander.

Thanks for the extensive update, and all the pics! Very helpful to those of us following the game.
