Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS - PBEM16] Dazedroyalty - Gilgamesh of Babylon

That's what I noticed about the south; that's basically the only reasonable way to dotmap it, except that I'd also move the gray dot 1N, to trade two ocean tiles for a plains and a grassland tile. I haven't really looked at the north except to note that the crabs city will block any potential copper city from sharing the fish with the capital.
If you know what I mean.

Well what are you waiting for?! (It's a slow afternoon and I have nothing to do!)

Hehe. smile Disregarding any considerations regarding border cities and such, I'd cram the cities in more tightly. The northeast has a lot of grassland but few food resources, so it might be wise to share the food between multiple cities who can alternate work on the same set of cottages, depending on where they are in their whip cycle. You'll probably need to mix in some grassland farms too, for sufficient growth.

For example, you could move cyan dot 1 SW, then add a city 1 E of the gems and another one 3 tiles north of that.

This is a good point. With low food, more cities will result in more tiles being worked more quickly. It would take one city a LONG time to develop Towns on all those tiles. Unfortunately, Dyes don't actually give any food so there's basically nothing available in that middle area.

Just in case anyone forgot, there is a corn 2W of the gold that pink dot gets (you can see it in the world map i stitched together). As to another city further north, that Rice is RIGHT next to scooters capital's borders and I know he's trying to settle the rice (there's a cow that is not visible in this pic too). As it is, the cyan dot will probably have cultural overlap with that city.

The dye/gem city could be placed 1S to share the corn with the capital, maybe 1SW. It would avoid too much border contact with scooter, too.

The copper city could be totally inland, in a hill, like the one 1N2W of the bananas.

Settling the pink dot 1N to get the cows too would be too crazy... or not?

Just throwing some ideas. I'm not good with dotmaps, but I agree with zakalwe comment about sharing food between crammed cities.

Edit: banghead about the writing thing. Really forgot about the double speed libraries (even though this is one of the things that make creative one of my favorite SP traits)...

Haha! Yes, I like it! Let's be even more suicidal! lol Seriously, though, if I did go for Pink Dot, I don't think it'd be worth the extra "piss scooter off" factor, plus I believe the current pink dot is on a hill which gives a defensive value. One north would be next to the rive but the plains directly E would be a defensive liability.

I thought about this but I'm not sure what it gains me since I won't be able to plan another city to share the food and it loses me the coastal tiles and port.

I think that is definitely worth considering, especially once I get the capital able to use the fish. My current plan is to use the WB i'm building to explore since Flashdance is not desperate for food. If those islands turn out to be small ones that go no where, I'll be able to work the fish. If not, I'll need to build another WB.

I'd probably go the other way and put Pink on top of the Elephants. WE got a bit of a nerf, so they are legal to build, correct?

There's no question I'll at least do this. But it would probably mean I lose teh gold and teh unseen corn to Scooter so that's why i prefer pink dot.

Turn 37 isn't a particularly important turn but I had time to extra screenshots this morning before leaving for work so here's a more in depth update. As always, feedback is welcome. If something seems goofy, it's most likely goofy and not part of an ingenious plan.

First, a city by city overview. Every Breath:

I need to get some workers down here soon so it can grow past size 5 and work an improved tile, but for now, it's set to grow to size 4.

Billie Jean:

Worker turns are needed here before it grows again. The good news (of sorts) is that the granary box is mostly empty so there should easily be time to improve a tile before growth. I'm planning to lay down a cottage.

Flashdance:

I'm going to whip this WB next turn so I can get my exploration on sooner than later. I have more than enough workers going down here at the moment so some of them will be diverted elsewhere.

Here's some graphs:

Crop

GNP

MFG

Power

Score

Serdoa had a ton of GNP a few turns back. He founded Buddhism so that culture contributes to his GNP, but there's also a good chance he was working the fish and clams.

MFG is a pretty distinct lead.

The Power graph is also good to see that I'm not in danger of any rushes anytime soon.

The demo's look about the same:

Every Breath also just finished it's settler so I have to decide if I want to go for pink dot. If not, I'd probably settle the copper city next. Now's your last chance to weigh in because that decision has to be made next turn since they are in opposite directions! It would take me five turns to get there.
