[SPOILER]The Acquiline Empire - GE's ode to "The Eagles"

Thanks for the input Gaspar ... comments noted

No further from Nic ... guess I'd better play the turn, or Kyan will be wondering ... now, do I whip that Granary? Overflow into the Worker will be good, eh? Sod it, whip-crack-away!! I'll update this post when I've finished.

Turn 34 - 1960BC

OK, I have whipped out the Granary in Crystal Palace [maybe 1 turn later than necessary] - will be working Deer, Rice, Fish, Silver & Plains Hill - got 12H overflow into Worker [Dougie Freedman] and queued up another Worker [Attilio Lombardo] to see out the whip-timer. Granary & growth due in Selhurst Park in 6 turns time.

Lost sight of Koopa, so VinceH has taken this turn to heal/fortify. PeterN & AndyG have moved off MalcolmA [MA] to follow him on a trek North & East to Celiazul's territory, if nothing else they'll unfog north of the eastern Cows.

Have marked out the next few Worker tasks; depending on what's been completed when DF & AL are built the initials may change.

AAARRRGGGHH no one's taught you how to whip have they?

Yes, whipping is good. That was the secret to my success in PBEM18. But, as we all know, whipping induces 6 turns of anger (on quick speed). However, in base BTS, no matter how many population get killed on a whip, it always gets the same amount of anger.

That's why we like to do 2-pop and 3-pop whips. Not only does it get rid of useless unhappy citizens, but those removed unhappy citizens more than counteract the whip anger.

Also, don't chop-mine those hills. The worker turns are better spent elsewhere. Road the copper, but immediately get to work pasturing the sheep and the cows at Selhurst. And yes, having a decent number of warriors can be good, but we're not under threat!

Push out at least one of Selhurst's warriors out to sentry the area between us and Dazed. We have 3 warriors to the north, push them out further north to scout the place out. The north has ~Floodplains~, we want to plonk down a city there soon and get it working on cottages.

Holy crap, looking at our rivals, we probably have the best land in the game. So many rivers, where cottaging them would instantly trigger the FIN bonus. Don't squander this!

To add to that, its not a hard and fast rule, but generally you want to whip workers/settlers and then regrow on buildings rather than the reverse.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

TBH, even I know you can't grow on Workers/Settlers

Nope, no-one's taught me anything about that - hardly ever bother to whip in SP coz my timing's usually out.

No chopping? Wouldn't the mines be useful & the chop speed up the Granary in Selhurst Park?

OK, I'll move the Warriors as suggested ... who knows one of them might stumble on Koopa & corner him.

From what the scout uncovered, the starts are slightly mirrored .. just, as FIN, we can exploit the FPs more. 3rd city should go somewhere north of the western Cows and the 4th to take in the eastern Cows & Silks, will post a view of the known world @EOT.

Turn 35 - 1900BC

VinceH, having healed, moved 1NW; AndyG moved 1N; PeterN moved 1NW; IanW moved 1SW out of Selhurst Park; MalcolmA finished Road - Copper now hooked up; SteveC started Road from Silver to Rice; DougieF 1 turn from completion.

Animal Husbandry completed @EOT - what next?

Finally have Celiazul's graphs; apart from a spike in Power, not much to worry about. Anyone care to postulate:

Turn 36 - 1840BC

As I'm still unsure which direction to take, have started using Binary-tech and set us on 0% [19Gpt]. Have put Writing in as place-holder until I, or a ded-lurker, thinks of something more useful.

SteveC finished his Road W of the Silver, will Road up the Rice next & bring the happiness back to Crystal Palace.

Moved the Warriors. VinceH went 1NE & found the end of the Mountains, Coast, more Cows, more dry-Rice & Jungle Gems! [Iron Working needed] AndyG went 1N & PeterN went 1NE; both discovered the un-Jungled Bananas [Calendar? Would also take in Writing & Sailing]:

Meanwhile IanW went 1S to stand sentry on the Sheep @ Selhurst Park.

Worry about chopping those hills later. Get the sheep and cows pastured. Now.

You have a 5-yield and a 6-yield tile just itching to be worked. Once this worker is completed, I want you to 3-pop whip a settler from 6 to 3, and then 2-pop whip a worker from 5 to 3. Just make sure the best tiles are being worked. I want to get the north settled quickly, and get those cities working financial riverside cottages.

No turn as yet, so we have a bit of down-time.

OK, just revised the Worker turns accordingly; as I've already moved MA onto the PH 1E of Selhurst Park to Road it last turn, I'm Roading 1 extra tile duh

OK, but what can I build in between these? Phalanx? Barracks? Barracks followed by Phalanx, maybe?

On the tech-front, just realised that those Silks are going to need Calendar too, so it looks like a calendar run, with Iron Working thrown in:

Writing [4] -> Sailing [4] -> IW [8] -> Maths [11] -> Calendar [16]

Timings based on 100% tech [20Bpt @ -1Gpt] - 0% give 19Gpt - working Fish, Silver & Copper for Commerce
