Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Okay, an example. We have 8 players, in the group stage they played following traits

Quote:Player 1 - Ind, Imp, Spi, Fin, Cre, Agg
Player 2 - Cha, Phi, Spi, Fin, Imp, Pro
Player 3 - Spi, Org, Exp, Fin, Agg, Phi
Player 4 - Spi, Fin, Agg, Cha, Imp, Org
Player 5 - Cha, Exp, Ind, Pro, Imp, Agg
Player 6 - Spi, Ind, Fin, Org, Cre, Exp
Player 7 - Imp, Cha, Ind, Cre, Exp, Org
Player 8 - Cha, Spi, Phi, Exp, Pro, Cre

Now let's say players 6, 7 and 8 have a tree way tie.

Player's 6 traits were picked :
Quote:Spi - 6 times = 16 points
Ind - 4 times = 4 points
Fin - 5 times = 8 points
Org - 4 times = 4 points
Cre - 4 times = 4 points
Exp - 5 times = 8 points
------------------------
44 points total
Player's 7 traits
Quote:Imp - 5 times = 8 points
Cha - 5 times = 8 points
Ind - 4 times = 4 points
Cre - 4 times = 4 points
Exp - 5 times = 8 points
Org - 4 times = 4 points
------------------------
36 points total
Player's 8 traits
Quote:Cha - 5 times = 8 points
Spi - 6 times = 16 points
Phi - 3 times = 2 points
Exp - 5 times = 8 points
Pro - 3 times = 2 points
Cre - 4 times = 4 points
-----------------------
40 points total
Player 7 used the less popular traits most consistently, so he wins the tie.

Bobchillingworth Wrote:Question- are we allowed to read the spoiler thread of a duel partner after our round has completed (and ceasing once / if another match with the same player occurs), provided that we receive permission? So, in the hypothetical scenario of my duel with scooter, let's say scooter beats me. If he were to permit it, could I then read his thread and contribute my own thoughts as what to occurred in the match? I realize that I could always just create my own thread, but that doesn't allow me to actually engage with my opponent until one of us has left the entire tournament, at which point neither of us may remember much about the battle.
Sure, I can't see why not provided you don't repeat information gained in this way outside said thread ( to keep other players from gaining it ).

Don't see it in the rules/settings post, which difficulty level are we playing at by default?

What is the official policy on lurker comments? Is all assistance and advice banned? Just asking for clarification.

No lurker help! What kind of a tournament would this be if you can appeal to outsiders for assistance?

If we do this, we must agree to not write anything about future leader picks in our threads. Basically - keep it about the game only. That's fine with me - just thought I'd point that out.

I'm planning on picking America for all my ancient games and Egypt for modern games. Whooops... shouldn't have let that slip.

EDIT: seriously, though, this is a problem if a player is only using one thread to report the entire series of games as the current set up has potential overlap in games. So if game 1 isn't over by the time you start game 2, you either have to not report game 2, start a new thread (my vote), or opponent from game one can't read it.

I would prefer players not reading spoiler threads at all. If we consider leader/civ picks to be spoiler information for future rounds, then just reading about another player's current leader picks is spoilers. I already posted my planned picks for the whole group stage, too
