I learned that if you do that with a catholic nation and annex the Papal State as well, it will force your country to become the Papal state, which I thought was funny.
so... not sure how I missed this before, but it turns out Magdeburg (the fake pope)... is protestant! I really don't understand how this could have happenned. I actually saved the game and loaded them up - they are locked into papacy government (can't change governments, just like the papal states always are). A protestant pope to fight the Catholic pope amuses me <G>.
I also learned something very useful - as a Catholic, I am able to force personal unions with muslims! I didn't think this would be possible, since we can't royal marry. You can't do it using the "claim throne" mechanic, obviously, since you can't royal marry - but if their legitimacy drops below 50% (easiest way to tell is to check their reputation, if they are getting a negative reputation limit for legitimacy, its below 50%), then you can use a spy to fabricate claims in their capital and get the personal union causus belli. I assume the same will hold true to hindu and buddhist countries, we shall see. This is a great way to annex big muslim nations (the horde, turks, mamluks) quickly and efficiently if you are trying to break into asia w/ a Christian nation.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.
