Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[Spoilers] Pindicator accepts his fate

Did a few runs in the sandbox and I can settle on the sheep on t28 with our worker making key roads allowing us to move and settle on that turn. However, this is only with 1 warrior and so it doesn't have a lot of margin for if Nyles decides to get aggressive --- or if our southern neighbor comes a knocking while this is all going on. Tech-wise, we'd be looking at easily grabbing AH ahead of that, and could even have Mining right after by t30 -- or potentially even going straight at BW and getting that t30 or 31.

If we feel like safety is paramount to speed, then Archery after Hunting is fast enough to get an archer out after the first warrior. Grow to 3 with the archer in production and then the sheep city would be planted on t31. There is also enough time to tech Agriculture ahead of AH ... but with our first worker making roads to the 2nd city coming back to farm that corn actually feels quite clunky. And honestly, if you're going to do that, then you might as well just go double warrior and grow to size 3 before building the settler because that also gets the city on t31... although with worse road coverage -- Agriculture really is clunky!

So I guess the big quesion right now is: 2 units or 1 before the first settler?

New turn: there's a crab 2 south of the fur in the last screenshot, but that's it for the waters west of the capital.

Also, Elkad finished Mining himself.

We'll have a second unit to move next turn! smile

Forgot to post this yesterday, but Turn 010 was played, and we now have a new worker!

Everybody else finished a tech last turn, which means some combination of Hunting / Agriculture / Wheel went across the board...

...except for Nicolae, who starts with Mining, so must be going BW first.

Digging a little deeper, that means every civ that didn't start with Hunting went Hunting first, except for Nicolae who is going for BW. ...And except for Borsche, who went Agriculture first and is going to be our southern neighbor Smug

EDIT: Don't take any of the tech stuff as written in stone, it's possible some people went Wheel and others went Agriculture.

I'm pretty cool with writing that in stone, seems pretty clear everyone has very similar starts.

If I have a new lurker then I guess that means I better update!

I don't know if I actually said it outright, but I'm going AH. I'm pretty keen about being able to farm those deer, but also that we'll have horses revealed about 8 turns earlier than copper would be. If there's a horse within 3rd ring of capital I can just hook them up for early defense; otherwise the plan is to go Archery after. I'm hoping to get by without and then head for Mining -> BW, but we can't play it too risky.

So yeah, worker has finished, pasture just finished this turn, and with all that our demographics look particularly awesome:

We also got graphs on Nyles this turn but they are pretty unremarkable -- meaning we can see a soldier bump for Mining and nothing since. I suppose it's worth mentioning that he did work different tiles than we did at the first few turns, so I don't expect mirrored starts, just similar ones.

I've never seen sugar on a grassland hill before. Feels like the map has been really heavily edited.
