Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

I'm not too picky about what type of map script to use, just so long as it's relatively balanced and looks fun to play in.

I'm fine with what Auro said except stuff like Remnants, Yggdrasil, Pristan, Dragon bones, etc. are no-gos for me in an MP game. I forget if there are any other OP/silly random features like those but if so, it might be easier to just leave them out altogether.

IIRC, this tends to leave out some types of resource - might require a little more mapmaker checking if you turn it on.

Auro's settings look fine. Is there an issue having unique features if they're mirrored? Seems fair to me if everyone can claim a Patria or whatever. No features which provide benefits only accessible by certain civs though, like the one that gives bonuses to the Amurities & Illians.

I suggest we restrict civ & leader picks so that the Lanun and Balseraphs are banned, and everyone must select a leader who hasn't featured in the last two matches.

I also just sent a PM to Brian Shanahan to see if he's interested in joining.

You mean who wasn't featured by anyone the past two games or simply who each individual has played (so I could play Perpentach but Auro can't for example)?

I'm fine either way but just want to be sure I understood properly.

Perp would be banned for everyone. So would Rhoanna, Cardith, etc. The intent is to force a bit of variety into the game smile

Sounds good to me, both the picking and the map (and I would also only agree to features like Remnants and Dragon bones etc if everyone got them in a mirrored map. In a non-mirrored map, then no, in which case it might just be best to leave them out)

No response from Brian, plus we wouldn't be able to mirror a map with five players. So, assuming we're rolling with a mirrored script & the selection restrictions I proposed, I'm ready to send in my picks now, to give Dave time to roll something over the weekend.

Oh, and for my playing window- 5 PM to 10 PM EST for most of the week.

Notes on mirrored maps: the mirror script is really designed for a duel; with four players there are two pairs of mirrored starts. The mirrorland script will produce four exactly mirrored starts, but it's toroidal wrap, which is far from the pangaea people were requesting.

I think at this point I'd rather go with a lightly edited pangaea over a mirrorland. It doesn't effect my civ picks, so if you want them Dave, I can send them your way.

We should also get a new forum

If we go the edited Pangaea map I absolutely want Dave to try and put forth the best map possible without worrying about getting the game started quickly or anything like that. Bob lamented at how barren the map ended up being with only the light edits he was requested and I agree with that. In fact, one major reason I went FoL last game wasn't just priests, it was cause I didn't like my land and wanted to get ancient forests going ASAP.
