[PB65 Mjmd] Off to Sea Once More

T05  but kind of T106

Got the merchant! (T106) If memory serves I want biggest city farthest away which I believe is Pins city in west of his empire.

Both SD and Pin want me to go to war with Cornflakes. Cornflakes has AMAZING vision on any incoming invasion from literally any point. Still I pulled some axes from Pins border and sent Pin crab for crab. I can see a lot of Cornflakes stack in what I'm assuming is a captured SD city. I'm not willing to whip with my low happy cap and I 'm not even positive Pin won't just win in a romp if Cornflakes does fall. Pin did gave me stone though (after HG nono ) so at least I can work on Moai.

I'm up to 26/28 gpt!!! but I'm still 2-3 turns from teching IW. Finishing a bunch of libraries soon hoping for the merchant, so hopefully I can struggle to currency.

If you shift+click on a city with the merchant you can check the gains of the trade mission. Safest to do when the merchant has moved already.
Iirc sending into somebody's ToA city also gives a bonus. ( because it's a factor of "TR commerce that they target city gets with your capital")

As Mig says, trade mission value is based on that city's trade route to your capital, so the biggest factor is actually island. IIRC size only comes into play at 14 or so.

Thanks for confirmation. I knew about ToA but for some reason I never thought it applied to islands, not that that applies here. For some reason the shift click method only works if I currently have cities revealed, but it looks like no matter if it is Pin or SD it is 900g (edit and none of Pins cities are size 14). That should be enough along with current accumulated for about 8 turns of tech.

I found Charriu's explainer on trade missions while looking for something else.

Well thanks to the explanation and some shift clicking went ahead and just used in the first Pin city I could get to. I'm super thankful I rolled the merchant instead of the scientist. Merchant was 48% odds.

Demo's aren't great...... but I did this weird thing called working food resources again in anticipation of more happy.

People keep wanting me to whip an army, but I'm definitely in recovery mode. I might even move to a functioning state with IW!!!

I'm guessing that city used to be SDs based on culture. So SD could have B-lined construction; the culture maybe would have stayed his long enough for that to be devastating; his GNP was getting up there for a while so think he could have. He could have done this thing called "attack somewhere else" (I don't know what north of there looks like city wise).  He could have maxed axes at a 2>1 rate if he wanted to go head first. What does he do instead? Build a bunch of chariots and charge them to their deaths. smoke

Pin also joined the war, but his power isn't great and Cornflakes started his GA. Now for the record I COULD join without whipping, with like 5 axes that Cornflakes could see coming a mile away...........

So merchant was worth IW, math, calendar, currency, and most of MC. Have I mentioned how much better the merchant was than a scientist was there. Now some  shades may ask "why not dig out of your hole via GA". There are two reasons. I like having either forges or markets up first. Basically get extra from GA. The second reason is there was a really nice wonder I wanted to keep from Cornflakes and Pin and you know also make me relevant. This turn I finally whipped MoM.  Calendar was also good for both food and happy.  Anyways, whipping forges everywhere atm so cities can regrow in time for GA.

Calendar and IW also opened up the banana so settled Grey Funnel Line a little before and it currently is stealing capitals deer as well. Eventually I'll give that back to capital and my capital will be the production envy of the world. Workers are on the way now. Grey Funnel line will help grow cottages for a while but eventually will just be a nice little production city.

Cornflakes and SD are preparing for another round. Cornflakes flashing his cat as a warning I'm assuming.

Pin has been pumping cats for a bit and his farthest city closest to Cornflakes just produced a HA. I kind of figured based on unit direction he was going against someone else. I tried to ask who, but he just sent back fish for fish (which I had also asked just to check). If he goes against Bing I'll try to snipe 2 coastal cities probably. If he goes again SD........ I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. Again, due to upcoming GA I don't really want to whip units atm. My plan is to tech to knights before making moves.

I also have to decide if I want to go top of the tree for artist. Will see timing I can get on next GP.

I was going to go with a different one, but as autoplay kicked in this one came on. You may recognize the tune. Its the same tune as James Craig! Thought it fit the theme this game.

This picture is just to confirm to myself that someone besides SD built that many chariots lol . In all seriousness I'm moving quite a few units both south and east. Some of my cities with expanded happy caps can actually go without garrisons for a second. I'm curious if this was a serious attack (ie Pin attacked Bing so Cornflakes wanted to see if he was weak, but Pin had hidden units behind) or if it was literally to get a peace treaty.

My Bing attack is not going to look even remotely threatening compared to Pins lol. But I did peel away units for safety. Have I mentioned that I've been sick for like a week and just not been paying attention to this game as much as I should?

Some of this is AP and some of it is just wow lol.

I do have a GA coming up though. BTW SaC is now 3rd on gnp ahead of me (not teching) despite not having math............ I also have plans for a filler city (ie this song) over by Pin. Could I settle it 1W to steal the wet wheat from Pin. I COULD!!! But figure I'll play nice with Pin for now. Edit: btw this settler is coming literally cross empire as I couldn't figure out where else to produce.

Some general comments with discussing nerfs in mod thread. This isn't a GLH map, but it has been defining and only reason I'm in this game none the less. I have no clue why SD picked Byzantium over Rome. Probably just wanted to do something different, but ya bet is regretting. Not about nerfs, but I have really been liking the market buff for protective. Its weird slow building them most places and not having to whip them in. As I wasn't able to grow pop for most of this game, its helped me build up pop in a lot of cities.

The market buff is really cool and almost entices me to play PRO. It's also nicely thematic with PRO's new CTH identity as 'domestic'. Just need to rename it now. lol
