SPOILERS-Tatan's PBEM10 Thread

It's a predictable choice but I'd first download Purple Rain (the album) and continue from there, or not.

Cool, thanks.

Yeah, a combination of two health resources being connected already and the fact that I have been focused more on horizontal rather than vertical growth. Plus, my happy cap for all cities but Daru is only 4 anyway, I couldn't grow them out if I wanted to. Of course, that will change because of the wonderful technology that is hunting; as we speak Dr. Pepper is diligently out in the wilds hunting beavers and elephants. A few roads, and then I can start growing out my cities until the next push towards expansion. Good thing, too, because last time I checked, according the the Top 5 Cities there are already size 6 [!] and size 7 [!!] cities out there, probably due to monument [several other charismatic leaders out there] or religion happiness. Bah. Hopefully, they haven't been keeping up in expansion, because if they have my prospects for out-REXing them aren't very good. frown

Sorry for the delay, been a bit busy recently.

We got Wheel, going towards Pottery right now [2 turns left]. Darujhistan finished the last worker, built a warrior for garrison-purposes, and is now building the two scouting chariots. Pale built the lighthouse, is working on the galley currently.

Helpful pic regarding worker plans/Great Lighthouse/a whole lot of stuff in general:

That summarizes the situation pretty well at the moment. Hoping to bring up commerce by have Darujhistan grow onto the furs/ivories. And growing Daru is kind of critical right now.

Losing the stone henge isnt a problem, as for the city size - meh, theres enough food for us to grow out to 6 or 7 VERY quickly if we really wanted to, we have Piggies (+6) Sheep(+4) 2x Wheat (+8) so at Size 4 next turn we could have a food surplus of +12 if we work Pig/Sheep/Wheat (total produced: 16F 3H and 3C) even if we go full hammer we have +5 if Fir/Horse/Sheep (Total 9F 7H 9C) or +7 if Wheat/Sheep/Horse (Total 11F 7H 6C) so we can grow quickly if required.

Damn i hope we get the GL, hurry up with those 5 turns already tongue as for the demos - we aint bottom now so thats good, but we are definalty mediocre - that worries me but alot less than being last does :P

Bam, another turn down. In which nothing happened. I forgot to take Demogs during the turn so these are actually T41's demographics.

Also, I happened to check the event log after finishing the turn, and the Oracle's been built, in a different cap then Stonehenge [according to Top 5].

I finally did the hard math, and we are literally two hammers away from completing the GL in three turns [end of T43] instead of four; I think we should whip to completion, just in case [and because Mott is getting close to the happy cap of 6].

Fine by me - just check the whip cost before you finish those chops, we dont want to waste any forrests that can go into other builds.

Will do. Pretty sure, the turn after the forests are chopped, I can whip for 1-2 pop.

Man, with the galley/chariot scouting party, I'm simultaneously dreading and hoping for contact with another player. On the one hand, diplo shenanigans will be interesting and we might be able to work together [for GL trade routes, hopefully]. On the other hand, diplo will take a fair amount of time and potentially get me attacked; only time will tell.

So, development plans for the future:
I was thinking that, after building the two chariots, Darujhistan could go one of two paths:
-Build a worker[s].
-Build a settler[s].

I was leaning towards the last option, but I would like your input, Adlain. I think getting the island covered with an orange tint will be best for expansion oversees [in the long-term, of course]. Of course this begs the question: where to settle? I was leaning towards the NW site, but the NE looks good too. So... agree? Disagree? Something else entirely? Something up my nose? ANSWERS!!!

Also, I would be willing to bet that the oracle was a slingshot to Metal Casting in order to build the Colossus, which will be pretty deadly on this map.

Settlers for me, and as for sites that gems due south of our capital would be my first bet as it is close enough to reduce maintenance and we cans potentialy get piggies up and running fast from the mainland for fast growth.

We must be careful to not Rex too fast before courthouses/ markets as we really cannot afford to fall behind in tech.

It's cottage-ago-go time! jive Research set to Mysticism for monuments.

Sprite, the newest worker, reaches the ivory and commences camping.

Pale grew to size three, work a coast for lack of anything better.

Oh what's this, event log?

...

Well, shucks. frown

Not that I didn't know this could happen, but it still hurts either way, to lose the most powerful wonder for this map and by only a few turns.

This is why I usually don't pursue early wonders: too risky. At least here I didn't bend my entire civilization towards getting it at the cost of expansion, so I'm not THAT far behind. And looking on the bright side, the fail money will fuel expansion for quite a while.

Still... would rather have had the wonder. cry

I checked the top five cities:

At least no one person has two or more wonders. Come to think of it, the person who got the GL must have been the one who moved their capital towards the ocean at the start, as reflected in Rival Worst Land. Mott never really stood a chance against a foreign capital.

After some flip-flopping, I came up with the following build plan for Mott:
-Put the chops [almost complete] into a settler, who sprints to the location on the NW tip of the island.
-Whip out a granary.
-Grow back while building a monument [and finishing the barracks].

Thoughts?

Any condolences on missing out would also be nice. tongue

.............. bangheadbangheadbangheadbanghead well i vote we build an army od warroirs and go hunting for the GL city and capture it.......... or just go down the pub and hve a sulk ............

Right, im back from the pub and i feel much better now smile, but damn thats annoying but as you said not totaly unexpected, however i would not rule out the possability of it being Qins 2nd city building the GL as he did run ahead at the start and has that nasty ind trait.

As for expansion, this has just made it more important to really get onto that island and pick out some good city sites, but even with the GL fail gold we must be careful not to crash our econimy, Over expansion is as bad as no expansion imho. 2 or 3 more citys will be our limit for quite awhile yet.

With myst next, shall we get ourselves to HR now??, tech through Monotheism for Judism (if avail) then we have a choice - go writing through to CoL Via Currancy and stabilise our economy after our planed REX or head for optics and scout out this map, and maybe getting that nicy Kyan Island and try to run a cottage economy untill we get said CoL and Currancy.

Im not convinced that it must be a capital, but tright now thats nether here nor there.

not a problem here thumbsup however the NEXT settler must be on the island as we are going to hit our max sustainable city limit soon i think.
