ok - sometime recently, KJN picked up alphabet. he's up a lot, though he doens't have CoL, so I think a dogpile is in order. stick is just getting machinery the same time I am. I dunno how to set up a dogpile in AW, but he's clearly the target for us

If I can get thestick involved... I shall just leave catwalk alone for now..

Timing is, as they say, everything.

Imagine I don't pop up a war chariot to bother stick when I had paper thin defenses on that side and so he doesn't take the opportunity to kill it and see my defenses and attract a crowd of war chariots, at least until, say, this turn.

I get to upgrade my GG unit to a mace for free and I doubt that catwalk gets patilipurta back against that - he won some low odds attacks, but with at least one mace defending? I dunno that he even launches an attack.

So, some analysis of catwalks attack shows he got a little lucky, but not that lucky, and my guess is that he would have taken the city unless he had gotten very unlucky.

Well, at least he's not dumping all that culture into my land.

Does anyone know if a captured and recaptured wonder gives culture?

A couple of things from last turn:

Something I had always wondered - if you lose a wonder that allows you to run civics you don't have the tech for, do you lose the civics? the answer is... yes So, i dumped out of OR after getting 3 missionaries out, so my tech path is set - I doubt I can easily get Patilipurta back (and I don't want to, either - I'll get into that in a second) - finish CS, then Monotheism - I need more infra and OR is a great way to get that. After that, i think optics - I may create a couple of explorers along the way for scouting. I can make them WII/GII, which would be tough for anyone to dislodge right now (stick has maces, so he can handle 'em)

It's a little alarming. My power has dropped a lot (losing 2 cities and a stack of units will do that!!), and I think he might be gearing up for an attack up at Interjection, which would be bad.

Fortunately, i get maces next turn (I have several axes that will auto upgrade) and will have the ability to create xbows, as well. I'm debating building the great wall - it's just a couple of turns and the GG points would be nice if I get attacked.

oh - why I'm not attacking catwalk? Taking 3 cities and losing a lot of units has me with some significant war weariness. So I'll just leave that alone and hit him when he comes back for more with me, which I presume he'll do at some point. I won't let me settle that city again, though. hopefully he's got the memo that I've decided to keep Be...

Founded Silvery - immediately gave it the clam for optimal growth. Building a granary. It'll go granary/court/lib (or court forge, not sure which)

Built maces and hooked up iron, so can build xbows.

Whipped in a mace in Pitch which will then 1-turn the great wall, which is visually stunning and will cause my enemies to quake in fear. Ok, not so much.

1 more turn to Monotheism and back to org rel, for 1 more missionary. Power is back to 2nd. sticks is about to join the "able to create collateral damage" club. kjn can now research CS and divine right (got CoL, I think), so everyone is joining the "can build maces' club, except catwalk (I think)

interestingly, he moved much of that stack to the gems and immediately got culture on it, so i assume he's going to mine it.

However, I get a culture push too, so will be fighting him for control... hopefully, I win!!

dunno what kjn is doing. he showed a stack down south, but not a very big stack. Granted, xbows and cats are strong, but throw a couple of cats and a bunch of war chariots at it and it gets reduced to kindling, for a very poor loss ratio. And... I have cats and a lot of war chariots (and more being made all the time!!)

Maybe he's going after catwalk? I think he's coming in after me, but it seems like he's just showing his hand. Maybe it's a bluff and he's coming at me in the north??

Got into OR and am making some more missionaries, plus am whipping a court in up in Be.

Not a lot to say. Catwalk has a seriously large force in patiliputra of axes, cats and spears, so I'll have to watch that.

kjn's southern stack turned around, I guess cause I built the wall? Interestingly, he left a chariot in range of a war chariot up north... so I killed it, of course. bonus GG points for the wall!!

3 turns to whales, more hammers, commerce and happy (doubled with markets, baby!!) I'm running close to breakeven at 50% now, which isn't too bad.
