Ah ok. I'm wondering about the rules about casting on an invisible unit, do you need a unit with see invisible to be able to do it?

It seems like there are different rules to when you can fire ranged attacks compared to cast spells on an invisible unit. With ranged attacks only those with see invisible can do it, but as long as one unit has it then all can cast spells on invisible units. Is this intended?

Cracks call is such a terrible spell, its RNG on steroids and the Ai loves to abuse it.

Permenantly losing a hero is never a good design choice, perhaps the spell can be altered to allow resurrecting units killed with it ?

The AI has no other good answers to neither heroes nor items (until they get dozens of Great Wyrms, anyway), so it's necessary. Blame Resurrection and Raise Dead and Create Artifact, if things already killed would obediently stay dead, this wouldn't be needed.

Does the AI cheating include RNG shenanigans? It could be observer bias but I seem to experience much worst chances when I am the target of it than when I cast it.

No, but I heard the RNG in the game is not very good. Tho in reality, I believe it's just the length of games - a typical game has thousands on random rolls in it so good and bad streaks happen a few times.

How does the healer ability work?

I just finished a battle with an arch angel and my slinger unit still has only 1 figure left. I would have expected at least 20% of figures remaining plus the one that was left in battle afterwards, so at least one more figure.

My slingers have 4 health each so if done on health and not figures that would be 8*4 = 32 total so 6.4 extra health, so again at least one more figure.

Healer works at the end of the turn, not at the end of the battle.
