CIV VI PBEM

Doublepost:
Can please somebody tell me my picks, i had seen Ioans choices when spoiling myself before signing up but do not remember them (I somehow only remeber Ichabods pick).
I will then pick and we can start the game.

Just to be clear as in PBEM 17 there was some confusion, I assume after reading this thread:
- CS can only be declared on when also declaring on the suzerain (?)
- CS can be pillaged for health (farms and fishing boats)
- CS can be pillaged for trade routes (as it is difficult to farm them)
- CS can be pillaged for other yields (non-farm, non-fishing boat) only once per improvement/district

@kaiser - The map won't be ready until Monday at earliest so take your time with the pick. The pick method includes option to re-roll another set of civs so if you make your pick tomorrow or Saturday that should give those who choose to re-roll enough time to make a final decision before the map is ready.

Thanks, then I will have the time for some testing.

To keep it simple, the only rule for city-states is no pillage farming, i.e. declare war->pillage->make peace->they repair->repeat. Basically, if you declare war, make sure it is to capture the city and not just to game the system for free stuff. I also would consider declaring war just to pillage a trade route, pillage farming, but pillaging a trade route on your way to capturing the city state would be okay.

Basically, don't abuse city states.

Ioan, you did not check in for quite some days on the forums. Once daily should be aplenty and not unreasonable if you want to commit to a PBEM.

I was out of town. But for next period I could easily commit to check it twice/day except maybe Saturday smile

Personally, guys, I think we ought to welcome Ioan. Remember, our Civ VI community is pretty small, and I don't think we can afford to turn away newcomers just because they don't post often enough for us. smile

Ioan, the main reason people are concerned is just that slow turn pace can really kill a game. It's tough to sign up for a multi-month commitment if the game is going to fizzle out because people are flaky. I think a good way to make sure you keep up your own discipline is to start a spoiler thread and try to report on each turn - even if its' only a little bit. That also helps with game planning and preparation and makes you a more competitive player! :D

I'm of two minds here.  First, I do agree with CMF that we should be welcoming to new players.  OTOH, disappearing from the tech thread for several days during game setup is a bit of a concern, though part of that feeling is the slow turn pace of PBEM 17 doing the talking.

As CMF pointed out this is a multi-month commitment - you're probably looking at 3-4 months of daily turns before the game starts to resolve towards a concession or victory.  Everyone suffers the occasional real life interruption that prevents a turn getting played on time, but there's also the expectation that the other players would be given reasonable notice of turn delays.

Ioan, does "except maybe Saturday" mean that you wouldn't be playing turns on Saturdays?
Sending units to their death since 2017.
