Apologies for not doing much reporting of late, but I've been busy. I'll make sure to do a big Turn 50 update.
But for now, you'll have to settle for this.
Uhh, I can't really remember what happened in Turn 42; workers did stuff, a chariot got built, ummm.....
Anyway.
Mysticism discovered at the start of Turn 43. Guys move around. Workers swarm over the land to create a road network and cottages. A camp on the ivory is built [were WE banned in this game? need to go check... okay, I'm back, it appears that they are in fact banned], annnddd nothing else happened.
And to top off and already over-the-top, enthralling post, here are... the demographics.
Played in: PBEM 4 [Formerly Jowy's Peter of Egypt] | PBEM 10 [Napoleon of the Dutch] | PBEM 11 [Shaka of France] | EitB XVI [Valledia of the Amurites] | PB7 [Darius of Rome] | Diplomacy 3 [Austria-Hungary] | PBEMm/o vs AutomatedTeller

Agreed. I think the Gems site should be the next city, a galley is already almost built, Daru can chop/whip out a settler/chariot pair pretty quickly [I was planning on having that galley stick around for transport, while the chariots explored the islands, and fishing boats explore the coasts]. Any other city sites will have to wait until there are enough cottages to support them.
Quote:With myst next, shall we get ourselves to HR now??, tech through Monotheism for Judism (if avail) then we have a choice - go writing through to CoL Via Currancy and stabilise our economy after our planed REX or head for optics and scout out this map, and maybe getting that nicy Kyan Island and try to run a cottage economy untill we get said CoL and Currancy.
I think that HR can wait a bit, our happy cap is already like 7 and will rise to 9 or 10 when monuments are built and resources connected. Likewise, I don't think Optics should happen until our economy is well established. So I think that going up to Currency is the way to go [not sure where after that]. As I [failed to] mention in the turn report[s], I am making a slight detour to Iron Working right now, for obvious reasons. [I don't feel comfortable with chariot defenders, even with no one around!]

Oh, just you wait. I swear, upon the tombs of our hardworking fore-fathers and their hammers, that this effort will not be in vain! Napoleon will rise to conquer the heathenous stealers-of-light, wherever they are!
Crush the [insert your name here please] scum!

Mott finishes the settler, who sets off toward the [STRIKE]un[/STRIKE]charted NW wilderness. Kruppe provides a few turns of cover from nasty barbsies.
Mott will double whip that Granary next turn. Also, notice the scoreboard. That's right, Twinkletoes [G. Khan of Sumeria] has gone Hindu.

Short, Simple and stright to the point
Demographs aside, so far so good for us imho - once we explore that island and get 1 or 2 contacts i think we will have a better feel for where we are in this game.

The most [read: only] important thing this turn is that the scouting expedition is a go!
The as-yet-unnamed galley will sail down to the sign marked "dot", drop off Coltaine the chariot, then sail further west and drop off Bult, the also-chariot.
Both will scout around locally to determine city sites, then head off into the jungle/forest/whatever-the-hell-is-in-there.

Well, at least we won't be dog-piled any time soon.

Meet the [mis-spelled ] city of Genabaris.
In other -related news I don't even have a worker in position to farm that corn. Not exactly a good start for the new city.
The H.S.S. Dhenrabi is rolling out towards the new continent's shores!
I'll name a fishing boat scout after the first lurker to figure out what H.S.S. stands for. And if no one can, then I'll just have to name it after myself.

Oh, I almost forgot about n00b Demographics Analysis! With no pic! And only reading into the top three categories! Man, this sure is going to be an super-spectaculific post.
Anyway, currently I am in 6th in GNP AND Food. Too bad I'm not 6th in Production, too, because then I could convert to a Napoleon-has-been-possessed-by-demons theme.
But fortunately, I am 2nd in production. So basically, I need to leverage that [admittedly slim] advantage into an advantage in the other two categories. I'm not too concerned about that at the moment, because the camps and the new cottages coming in will buoy my research until those overseas colonies can start bringing up their own cottages. Not worried about gold at the moment, what with the GL fail gold [got 70 gold at the moment, which should last about 15 turns of 100%].
The bigger worry is food. My cities all have a happy cap of around size 8, which will rise after founding the gems city and getting monuments up. My capital is only size 5 right now, which says something about what my cities need to be doing in the next few turns. All of them have/will have granaries in the next 1-2 turns, and Mott and Darujhistan both have sizable food surpluses, so no worries growing THEM out.
The problem: expansion is also necessary, in fact, imperative. With all due respect to Slaze, I guess you could say I need to be in EXPANSION MODE. And everyone knows how well it works if you try to grow a city while building a settler. So my solution? Still working on that. My temporary fix? Mott is turning into my production city [note the barracks I'm building], and after the Mandatory Monument I plan to use Mott to crank out settler/chariot pairs [will use axes if iron is on my island] while Darujhistan and Pale work on infrastructure with the occasional worker. Pale might also build some naval units.
Wow. That turned into a longer post than I thought. Hmm. Needs pictures.
...[5 minutes in PowerPoint]...
Say what you want about Civilization Revolution, its leaderheads' archy-eyebrows are sweet.
FAKE EDIT: Look, lurkers! Thanks for dropping by, scooter!

Good idea, but tragically incorrect. Although that is pretty much what the Dhenrabi will be doing for the next 50 turns, minus the "high-speed" part.

I don't know if I still count as a lurker, but my guess Is His/Her magesties Sea Service.
Bleh at the demos but I agree with the need for expansion still ala inca but hopfully without the requirement of a longbow whipround in the near future
