One spot still open

Hi there! Long-time lurker, but I literally just now created an account upon seeing that there was an opening for a Pitboss game! Is that still the case? Because if it is, I am very, very interested!

Edit: And by very, very interested, I mean I literally cannot believe how incredible my luck is right now. I was super-bummed out earlier when I saw the game was full, so imagine my surprise when I saw a slot had opened up! I know I'm a bit of an unknown quantity (that's what I get for mega-lurking, I suppose), but I'd absolutely love to play.

Looks like snake pick is winning (from some to-be-determined list), so you guys should probably also vote on seeing starts before or after the pick; makes a pretty major difference.

So I just looked through the thread again, and I noticed that I'm not the first lurker to have made their first post in this thread. I know there was some debate over whether one lurker was a good idea, so I'd totally understand if you all decided that I should sit this one out.

I'm very confident in my ability to play all my turns, though (I'm in College; when do I *not* have my computer around?), and I'm really, really psyched about the possibility of playing, so if there's any chance that I can take that last spot I'd absolutely love to have it! If you all would prefer someone to team with me I'm up for it, but I'm totally willing and able to play solo, too!

Very carefully.

I'm opposed to nearly all of the espionage missions, for various reasons, except tech stealing. I think that would give a player another strategic choice and may be interesting. I'm not too attached to this and passive espionage play is just fine.

In that case, here's my thoughts on the settings -- pretty similar to what everyone else is proposing:
Barbs on/off? Off
Huts on/off? Off
Events on/off? Off
Corps on/off? don't care
Vassals on/off? Off
Map? Serdoa handmade
Difficulty level? Monarch
Tech trading? Off
Diplomacy? Extended AI diplo or, preferably, Full Diplo (there's no tech trading, so I'm not particularly worried about it. Plus, I actually really like diplomacy...)


I'll be fine with whatever, though; no deal-breakers for me. I'm just excited to play! And yup, vote to see starts too.

Edits: Changed a couple of my preferences
Espionage: only passive (must settle, Scotland Yard, or golden age great spies, no building spies, etc.)
Civ/Leader choice: either snake list or snake w/ban list.
Bans: only thing I'd really prefer banned are nukes. Question: out of curiosity, if we ban war elephants, what would we do about the Khmer UU? Would that also be banned? (I'm guessing there would still be Ivory on the map, yes? Because if there is, I'd add SoZ to the ban list, too.)
