For instance, hard in 1.40 is normal in 1.31.
And impossible in 1.40 is also impossible in 1.31.
The number, not the description. wink
hard in 1.40 is normal in 1.31, but both have number 2 as level of difficult.
Right now you have no choice and "guess" the description.
If you "see" Powerful Magic = 2.5 you can correct both description (Powerful Magic and Difficult Level) because you know the MoM version is 1.40+. goodjob

For instance, there is a map with movement data that is unused.
And bytes can also be added at the end. MoM won't "see" those.
Mmmmm...
On first thought I prefer adding data to avoid overlapping, but this can create problems with other savegame editors.
If you are sure the movement data map is unused, you can share the info, let's see if some one is able to add the code to save MoM version number.

Quote:That was my first thought, but I know there are also people with a nick starting with "As" and ending with "ex", and with "J" and ending with "m".
That would be even better!
They can create the code managing the new area as an add on to the latest Insecticide, I can convert it in a patch itself.
It could be difficult, I know I can't do it and I'm so newbie I do not know any other developer from the users of this forum, but if you think it is doable... mischief
Let's see if there is someone with enoght skill and time to implement it. smile
Only the people crazy enough to think they can change the world of Arcanus and Myrror can do it. rolleye

No need to guess.
If you have magic 2.5 it is currently displayed as: <Unknown eMagic Powerful> (4).
The number 4 signifies that it's magic 2.5.
You can also change it to another number, whether tweaker knows how to display it properly or not.

As an alternative, I could take a peek at the wizards.exe that is in the same directory as the save game, and get the version from that.
However, if you collect your save games in another directory, or make a copy, that wouldn't work properly.

You can see it in eljay's file, that the movement data at offset 15AD4 in the save game is unused.
I verified in the code, and found indeed that this data is never referenced.
It looks like a remnant from an earlier design phase.

It slightly not right,if anybody else would fix the Kyrub-introduced problems. Unless this choise shall become unavailable.
For the tweaker solution,i purpose default option 'where is the game directory' and take version from that.

I just found this site today and have spent the last 6 hours reading a lot of posts. lol
This 'Tweaker' looks amazing. One small issue I've found is that the Font is so hard to read. Any chance of changing it to something like Arial, or at least have an option? smile

Welcome to this realm Starionx! wink

I'll see what I can do.

Okay, I'm finally getting around to my project for racial heroes, and portraits are giving me a problem; I can load an image (as long as its a bmp, other types don't work at all), but it gets color mangled to the degree of being entirely unreadable, possibly because of the limited color map space in lbx images. Any thoughts on how to fix?

It should just work.
The last couple of releases of the Tweaker include druss_the_legend.png that can be used to replace a hero.
The colors are automatically matched against MoM's palette, so there should not be any color mangling.

Can you upload the picture you are trying to use?
And can you specify where and how you are trying to insert it?

Btw, I'm not getting notifications anymore from this forum.
It's only by chance that I saw this post just now.
Perhaps you could email me at ilikeserena@gmail.com.

Okay, I'm just using the lbx editor to edit portraits.lbx, and selecting the image I want (.png does work, .gif does not), and it shows two copies of the image below, one in true color, one with mangled colors (the mangled colors is what actually goes into the file). Attached image is one I was trying.

I tweaked my email and I'm happy to say that I got this notification.

And yes, GIF is not supported.
Actually, I have been looking for GIF support, especially since I'd like to use it for animations.
However, all the programming tools that I can find specifically do not support GIF due to the copyright issues it has (or once had).

I intentionally displayed to copies of the image, the first is the original image, and the second image is indeed what would go into MoM and how it would look there.
I'll see if I can reproduce it.

I just took a look at you image and I think I already know where the problem is.
Your picture has its own palette.
I suspect the colors are not automatically converted.
With true color (24-bit or 32-bit per pixel) I expect it will work.
You'll see that the druss_the_legend.png image is indeed true color.

Btw, all regular bitmap formats are supported, except gif.
And in the Linux variant of the tweaker, the bmp format is also not supported (Microsoft specific).
That is why I always choose png or jpg nowadays to store images.
