Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

I've been playing Persona 4 on a PS2 emulator. Definitely an overrated game (pace is super slow and dungeons are absolutely awful), but there's something charming about it that makes me want to play more.

Yeah, I've heard that before. I've been playing games with a keyboard (with arrows for movement) since I was six, so I'm pretty used to it- I got through the Witcher games and Max Payne 3 using only a keyboard + mouse with no problems. I also don't like the idea of having to buy an expensive controller to play a game I purchased for 5 bucks. I wish Steam allowed you to trade away games you've already installed.

On the topic of controls, I actually play shooters on my laptop using the trackpad - people tell me it's insane, but it works fine. My brother uses a mouse, but strangely instead of using his first three fingers on the WASD keys uses his thumb and first two fingers - I don't get it.

Anyway, I mentioned I got Crusader Kings II recently; I also picked up Hearts of Iron III in a Steam sale and have been learning it off-and-on. It's very fun! The poor Poles never stood a chance ... but what I'm really looking forward to is when I know enough to be able to turn the tide in the invasion of France. Vive la France libre!

Yeah, I agree. The dungeon crawling and RPG itself is nothing special though the mythological Personas themselves are extremely cool. And something about the world is just extremely immersive and touching if you don't mind the (quite deliberate) adolescent nature of it. I actually thought Persona 3 was a stronger game, and the boss fights were actually very challenging there. Persona 4 also has the saddest bad ending I've ever seen.

Been replaying Divinity II lately. It's a game with a lot of charm and character to it, and the environments are very nicely detailed and hold up well. Gameplay is sort of a combination between Witcher 2 and Diablo-esque games, while the dungeons often take a similar approach to Legend of Grimrock, with lots of hidden rooms and secret switches you have to carefully search for. The plot is like someone wrote a parody of the Baldur's Gate series, and then his editor took it completely seriously.
