Maybe he misclicked. Or he became envious of the glorious conquest of Polynesia and lost his mind for a minute. Or it was on opportunistic kill and he didnt even think about it ever after. The thing is, if you dont wage a eternal war against TheEvilHydra, you ruin your aggro reputation. Not good.

Oh, believe me, I'm gonna kill him. Just...not in the ancient era. And not by weakening him so that a third party can come in and eat us both.
That screenshot is right - but the 55 + 6 one is before the micro. Look at that screenshot, +1 gpt. Expenses didn't change from 58, which means it's 59 gpt + 6 bpt, at 65 total commerce that's right in line with your math. Maybe one lost to rounding.
Of course, there's more than one reason for binary. It saves on rounding, but it also increases flexibility. So I probably ought to do it anyway.

Played, Colossus is due in three .
I underestimated costs; we went down to +1gpt without founding the furs city. I guess once Colossus is in or we grow back onto cottages I can claim that one .
We got a Buddhism spread - to Carter of all places. So I guess we'll be buddhists.
We're 4th Power, so I let a bunch of cities roll onto units. Mostly spears, since we'll have warning on anything axe-like. And, well, I guess having our three western cities guarded by two chariots *was* pretty light. Lowe is now up to 2xSpear 1xVulture, and it's going to stay that way for now.
We met Alhazard! He had a warrior scouting north of the gold city, and we got eyes on it when borders popped.
Other than that, nothing much new. THH is walking his warrior toward the gold city, so I'll hit it with a chariot in four turns when it finally arrives.

Colossus should save us. That and cottage growth. And happiness. All of which is in progress, I just didn't expect to need *that* fast.

Dang it, THH, what do you expect to gain here? You can't honestly think you can keep a city on my sea? And you've got to be having the same GNP problems I am, this is a long way from your capital.
I give it about 30% odds of surviving the turn. Vulture ought to kill an axe, CI full-fortified spear on a hill might kill an axe, axe + chariot ought to be able to bat cleanup if THH's first two battles go average or better.
I shouldn't have optimistically started on a granary. If I'd left the Vulture in queue, I might be able to whip it this turn for survival. I just didn't think THH would spend this heavy on military this early!
So I went ahead and established our fur colony. Looks like our maintenance costs will be forcibly reduced IBT Might as well start working on our happiness and a Colossus fishingville. That doesn't require ridiculous investment to keep .
At least Colossus and gold are both still on track to complete next turn. Should be able to start digging ourselves out of the hole soon. Still going to put more resources to the west, make sure we keep our happy resources and our foothold, but in the long term THH is in for some pain.
Heh - I might follow his example and kick him off the western peninsula instead of fighting to reclaim the east. As long as he doesn't build any ports - can't tolerate anything that could cross our moat.

 I can't even win the good-odds battles?
And he kept the city! Well, now I know what I'm doing for the next thousand years. Only question is: do we wait for cats/HA/something else, or just go for a swarm? Winning may not be on the table regardless anymore, but we definitely can't tolerate that city.
In other news, I spotted a rather large force of War Chariots. Not exactly incoming, but I'm scrambling to get some extra spears to Schoedinger anyway.
At least one part of our plans is working as intended.
And we have gold this turn, and silver/furs are both in progress.
