Yeah, I took that as frustration creeping into the report at being attacked at a very inopportune time. Superdeath has a knack at doing that...

Superdeath has a knack at doing that... Not a bad knack to have. Mind building a market or two hammer heavy wonders while building up / attacking isn't advised...... But still taking initiative at opportune moments is good. I don't subscribe to that idea. Whatever I do it has to benefit me in some way. If someone is running away with the game, I will not stop them just so others can win. I want to win myself and if that is not possible, do as good as I can. I however don't find it very fun - neither for me nor the leader - if I attack them just because they are doing well. That is just a form of kingmaking, but instead of deciding who becomes king, you decided who does not. I don't see a problem with Serdoa's oberservations and thoughts. The only thing missing in his calculation is that our current meta somehow led players to concede very fast if some player gets a lead in a game. So what could happen is the following: 1. Player A gets a lead position 2. Other players start giving up and concede 3. Instead of attacking the leading player, conceding players start attacking other players that might have a chance of challenging the leading player in an attempt to end the game sooner. This of course is another form of kingmaking just by the loosing side. I didn't want to bring this up in Serdoa's thread so as not to spoil him in any way.

Serdoa should have piled on against Byzantium initially because I think that would have increased his chances of winning (if you assume he is the next target which I think is likely). That being said once he didn't, it was correct to snipe cities from SD to increase his own chance of winning.
Lewwyn has a ton of options. Unsure of best choice. Will be interesting what he picks. BTW I believe naming units is prohibited? Someone should kindly remind SD. (I didn't notice anything at the time while following along, and looking back over the last couple posts I didn't see anything). I don't think that *naming* units has ever been banned. *Naming for diplo purposes* is banned. e.g. naming a unit "Attack NoGas" would not be allowed, but .
He renamed a unit "throwing game away" and then a swear on Serdoa front. I would classify that along those lines. Also, would classify as being a dick.
Do you think SD and Serdoa could have split Byzantium if they attacked together earlier? I tend to think they could have crippled them but not really profited much. That would just drop Serdoa further behind the leader Lewwyn. This way he might make a new leader in Byzantium but the gap for him is smaller. Or at least if a dogpile occurs in the future he stands a better chance of coming out ahead after it.
I definitely do think there are times where you need to attack the leader but I'd probably have played similarly to Serdoa here.
I also think Superdeath made a number of mistakes. First of all, if he felt he had to kill NobleGas before they came with cataphracts then why are you waiting until CKNs? Horse Archers have 6 strength and come so much sooner and give your opponent far less time to react with their movement. But if you are going to use your UU then defense is probably your best bet - even against 12 strength units, you still have tons of collateral. Or at the very least use the CKNs to their full advantage and come by sea. Walking them slowly over land just telegraphed it too much and gave NobleGas too much time to react.
