Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] Tatan, CFCJester and Nakor try their hand at Mansu of India...

Surprise..(not us getting GLH but that Oracle went same turn)...
I checked the religion screen and no other religions have been founded. My hunch is that MC was taken by Oracle. Yikes triremes...we'll need to be extra careful. I'd imagine Collossus will be built shortly. I am thinking definitely IW after Monotheism. We might not have that big a window to secure iron if we have to go offshore to get it. The demos...

@ Nakor : I didn't end turn yet. The horse site is a good 3rd settle I think. Chariots will make spawn busting so much easier. Any thoughts on what order to settle? I lean towards settling N first and settle the closer sites once we have math (for boosted chops).

Serdoa build the Oracle! Good for him. That puts him down as the Buddist guy as well.
But he whipped a lot to get there if you take a closer look at civstats.

As for a settling order, I put some number for the city sites. 4th city up north, 5th city silver (happiness).
We must consider Monarchy for both the wines and HR happiness to grow our cities bigger. Do we do that before or after IW... guess after...

No time yet to play with the sandbox, but that will come soon enough.

I guess we're back on track now! Got a Religion (now all we need is some spreads) and TGL! We're off to a very decent start (being Isolated).

UnforcedError --> Good to have you on board!

Tatan, are you still around?

Serdoa is DeGaulle, right? Yes, it must be MC for triremes and cheap forges.

The key techs we need are The Wheel/Pottery/Monotheism/IW (probably in that order) and then Writing/Mathmatics/Monarchy. We definitely want Monarchy asap so we can work as many coast tiles as possible plus cottages. I don't think we will need Monarchy until we have Math researched (should still be busy spamming settlers/workers). Depends on how fast we can fill out the land. Probably be a good idea to wait on Math for chopping the rest of the forests...might even have a few grow. We get Currency for free by bulbing (merchant gpp from GLH) so would want to have Math researched by the time the GM is popped. Alphabet is just as useless as ever. lol

Further out, MC/CoL and CS will be pretty key as well. We have pretty decent land for running caste and should have decent production with workshops mid game. I'd probably be tempted to go CoL/CS directly after Monarchy. Too bad we don't have any marble or stone visible. Maybe one of the islands might have some?

Played a bit with the sandbox. It should be possible to get to about 8 cities by T100.
We don't need an awfull lot of workers imo. A total of 5-6 should be enough for this island.
Hope we can get one of the new cities on an island. We can build a Galley in our horses city and a chariot and pair it with a settler.

Yeah, I did 13 cities (3 way down south on the island with iron) by T117 (50AD). Iirc, only built ~3 more workers early and built a few more once the mainland was settled. Ofc, I went worse case where religion didn't spread at all so I built mish for every city..not one single monument. lol

The settling pattern on the live save looks good. I think we should explore the islands up north by the horses. Any island is pretty good with GLH, but it would be nice to find some more substantial islands with some hammer potential. Seafood only island cities might be hard to defend. I do like clam island to the east since it will help provide early warning to the mainland.

Waiting with the other chops until Maths is in is very sensible. There's not too much forest around. Wouldn't MC be at least as important now as IW given that all of the cities have to be defended by a navy?

We'll need a good navy indeed. But we need a lot and must make choices.

WB from FoF will be send north to scout, WB from CG will go to the crab they share?

Things will become very interesting soon...

WB from CG should go to closest crab so it can get started on a settler as soon as it reaches size 3. FoF can easily build more WBs later. I've done another sim using the settling pattern you indicated on the live save (except I settled the eastern clam island for oversea trade routes as the 6th? 7th? city - forgot to take notes)...

Still not satisfied with the micro long term but starting to get a good idea of what works pretty well in the short term. I did build a few mish but got mostly natural spread.
