Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] Asoka of Aztec (DMOC/Nakor)

Fun will be war and then being kicked out, but I've got to try someting....

Well... now I have a bunch of catapults and HBR in this turn, but Kublai (Mackoti) just build a huge army. Bigger then mine. Don't feel threatened, but there's probably no way my catapults/axes/horse archers can take down his maces.

Well, was to be expected.

What can I do? Attack Moogle or go back to peacefull expansion at a tech crawl and hope Kublai makes a mistake somewhere.... or still attack Kublai and hope for a quick ending... haven't made up my mind yet....

Lost another city to Kublai in a short war. He has maces... what can do. Pretty sure he can't get more cities of me, but my army will obsolete soon.

Thankfully I now have Currency in (while the others are probably close to Education). That should help my economy a lot as does spreading the faith...

Long time no updates but this game isn't that interesting for me anymore. I'm way behind techwise but got longbows now. Finally teching CS (Lewwyn got Liberalism ages ago) and then Machinery and Engeneering to get better defense. Mackoti made another go at one of my cities and failed. He used Galley's and a land attack with Knights/Maces. Guess I got to much defenders in my border city. Now we have 10t peace, so that gives me time to get about 8 LB's in there for the next round.
Meanwhile he has been harrasing Lewwyn as well. But nothing serious. All I can hope for is that Moogle and Lewwyn go at Mackoti and leave me in peace to get an more even footing. But I guess that won't happen.

If anyone is willing to look at the save and give me some suggestions, I can really use them, I'll send him over.

As expected, Mackoti comes again, now with Rifles and Cannons while I'm 3 turns away from Rifling. But I can't draft... still pretty happy I made it this far with all the mistakes in the early turns.
Now Mack will easily overrun me and I'm not sure if the others can stop him once he takes my land.
This game shows again that I can play the economical side of the game but really need to work on my military play. Still a lot to learn...

Hey Nakor, you may have noticed that the "apprentice" game just finished - maybe you should've made a better case to be in that game

Was the civ allocation that bad for you? Would you have steam-rolled the game if you'd had the one given to Mackoti/Nicolae?
PBEM12 - Shaka of Inca [6/6*] PBEM18 (Apps) - Augustus of China [4/4*] PBEM31 - Hannibal of Greece [jnt2-4/5*] PBEM72 - Willem of Oranje - Dutch [3/4*] PBEM74A -Catherine of Babylon [4/4][*ended early]

No, it the civ wasn't a problem. It was more the I lost the first struggle with Mackoti (stupidly, my mistake) and thereafter it was all a matter of trying to catch up with the other. But I lost 2 settlers at the start and that was to much to make up for me in this game.

I think I and Ioan interacted in a similar way. The difference was that (a) Ioan was going for momentum play anyway, which meant I could never punish him the way Mackoti did you, and (b) I never pressed home my economic advantage into a military advantage until the end of the game.

On the other hand, I really should have tried earlier. Ioan was insane, persecuting a war against GE while I was taking his cities

Actually you tried - but until the Musketeers gave you a good coverage for atacking mounted-units there was not so easy to break my lines ... wink

Lost 3 cities now, fired a GA with my scientist to get Rifling in 1t and money for upgrades. Let's see if I can stop Mack a bit.
