Academy is ready!!  And the research increased: we are getting 50 probs pt!!  So we can have the maths in 4 turns.  I took away the scientist and put a cottage and a mine to get the granary.
In Rostov I chage to an Spear, in case we have to whip units and in StPete also, I changed to an Archer.  I think archers can be very helpful in the hill-cities, and much more cheap than axes.

Mjmd is sending a boat to our territory, as we do with his.

Yay! That science boost will be good!

Agree with archers on the hills. I'll add that Walls should not be built in a city until we have half a dozen defenders or more.

The south is full of silver and fish.  Yasroslav is founded in the east (city E) and an archer is going to defend there and also I have an spear at 1 turn of distance.  I put the sheep for this city to grow, and St Pete is reduced in food resource.  
Miguelitos power graph is increasing dramatically.  I don't know if I should start whipping units because the cost of maintenance will raise.

Half a dozen defenders in total?  Or in Yasroslav?   In total is not much.  I already have 4 and could have 3 more in one turn.

Also we must decide the research path.
1. I'd like MetalCasting.  It would give us trirremes and forges.  This is a building interesting to make, otherwise we dont have anything to do.
2. Mysticism->Masonry  to make the marble.  We need this for the Great Library and National Epic, but it is a long path yet until we need the marble. But this 2 can be researched in 2-3 turns already.
3. I would not discart Construction.  Due to the close neighbours we will start to have conflict soon.

Exploring more in the south.  Whipped granary (2pop) in Moscow, after a lighthouse.   Change StPete to lighthouse pending to whipped for 2pop in 1 or 2 turns.  I want to wait to obtain higher overflow, but our lack of units is very big and I am afraid of neigbourgs.  We are almost the last in units, Miguelito has a high curve of power.  Next turn I will whip one spear in Rostov that now has a warrior. 
In Nogodorov I put a settler (an axe is in cue at 34 hammers).  I wanted to chop the forest but it won't be chopped in 3 turns as I expected, so I will have to wait one turn more and whip for 1 pop, or keep the chop for other thing.

The south and SW is uncovered by our warrior and the boat. Mjmd on the west seems to have no forest, or he already chop them down. 2 workers are making the road to city F, and a 3rd is choping a forest SE of Nogodorov. Here the settler will be ready in 4 turns.

Whipped 1pop for an Axe in Rostov (N city) and I'm thinking about putting the overflow to a library.  There will be a cultural fight btw this city and Elkad's, so I must assure the culture of this city, and a library has a civ bonus for us. 

I swapped the water tiles betweeen Moscow and StPete.  I put the fish to Moscow and the cows to StPete. In this way I make profit of the 2c of the fish for the academy of Moscow.  In this game, everything counts!




Next turn I have Maths and I think to go for Metal Casting.  Also when Moscow grows to 5 I want to try putting 2 scientist from time to time for GS.  I never did this, but I think it should be done when the gold slider is at 100%


Look at the power graph of Miguelito.  He already have 8 cities.

If you suspect Miguelito might attack then Construction is the right choice here. Or we could go for HBR and settle our horses in the west.

I meant when you get masonry you should have about half a dozen defenders in that city before building walls. Number of defenders is more important than a +50% boost.

Does St Petersburg have a library? If it does and it has given up all its food resources to other cities this could be a good time to get another Great Scientist out.

Specifically, this would be a scientist to bulb Philosophy or start your first Golden Age. I think you want to start your first golden age about when you get Caste so you can run unlimited specialists and take advantage of PHI. So perhaps if you do decide to put another Great Scientist out now it would be for Philosophy and founding a religion. To get Philosophy you would need to tech Alphabet, Currency, and Code of Laws OR Alphabet, Aesthetics, and Drama.

Miguelito has a high power graph, but he also has a lot of cities (8), so may be he is not in a good situation to start a war, with so many cities to defend.

Yes. StPete got a library, but I was thinking about using Moscow for a GS.  Migh be a good idea to use St Pete for it and using Moscow for feeding cottages. 

If the attack is not sure, do u think Metal Casting is a good option?  I don't see a good spot to settle for horses on the west.  Migh be in the NE, at the Scout - City G. But this is really a very hot spot.

Hummm, It is a complicated decision.  The currency way is good for economy, but the Aesthectics is good for the Partenon and Epic and GreatLibrary that we can make fast with the marble bonus.

Why do you want to get Metal Casting? The more I think about it the more I don't think it fits for us. It's way too early for forges, the Colossus could be a wonder to build but then we are giving up on other better directions we've discussed (Great Library or Currency). Only thing that fits for me now is triremes but Mjmd doesn't seem like he'll necessarily attack.

I think whether you want to get Currency and develop normally or push hard for Great Library are the two choices. And obviously a military tech if you think someone might attack you soon.

I don't know why I think of Metal Casting...  Probably cause I like forges and in the other options there is nothing to build anymore.  Except currency, for markets.  I guess that when I have an idea is difficult to change it, even if there are solid arguments against it!

Why do you say Alphabet in the two alternatives?  I don't see that it is so important, besides the factor for Currency.  In this case would you research alphabet before currency?  Is it worth the 8 turns that it would cost?


Thinking about currency, I only have 2 or 3 cities with good gold production (moscow, stpete and Nogo).  I am not sure that the markets will be so crucial now.
