I've got two archers out and haven't been attacked yet. Scooter has two axes (one at 3.7 health) next to the city and Serdoa has two on the way. Unfortunately whether by good planning or just luck, they're blocking my access to all forests to chop!

TwinkleToes just refused to give me OB so I could get my warrior home or at least into Serdoa's territory (apparently, he has a NAP with Serdoa that prohibits OB with those the other team is at war with. Which makes sense to me. Serdoa managed to get a lock solid NAP on his North allowing him to attack South without fear. I think TT would have been better off refusing such a binding NAP but I don't know the situation from his perspective).
I now have three archers and two warriors with the 4 axes I mentioned still next door. Scooter did mention that it was intentional to prevent me from chopping forests. But they'll either have to attack or eventually I'll have enough archers to just move out and cover my workers and get into their lands.

I've got four archers and two warriors. Unfortunately, I can't keep building units and keep up research (not that it's that good anyways). I just got masonry for city walls. I am shooting for IW just in case I get lucky and have some! Otherwise, I'll probably turn it off and just churn out archers. I'll try to take a picture next turn.

There ya go. I just had to delete my exploring WB because I ran into Scooter's galley and I'd rather delete than let him kill it.

Sent two messages. One to SCooter:
Quote:So, it is pretty obvious that you're not going to be able to take out my final city anytime soon without tremendous loses. Obviously, though, you can't let me just build more and more archers to harass you. I'm willing to listen to any suggestions you have that might allow our civilizations to come to peace, relieve you of the threat of harassment, and allow me to focus on harassing Serdoa instead as he was the original aggressor towards me. Also, you know it would help you out to have me harass him instead of you. As I mentioned I'm open to the possibilities if you have any offers to make.

One to Serdoa:
Quote:Serdoa,
Well, despite your great efforts in attacking me, you and Scooter have come up short as I have a fortress remaining with city walls and numerous archers on a hill. The city will stand at least until the advent of catapults. My plan is simple: since I cannot win, I will harass those who have attacked me. However, I am willing to discuss peace with your nation, allowing me sole focus on Scooter, the backstabber, and giving you freedom from threat of any potential harassment that might come from me. If you're interested in securing peace and having all my energies focused against one of your prime opponents, I'm open to hearing your proposals.

I'll see if either of them respond. Hopefully I can break up any positive relations between them. It would clearly be beneficial to either one of them to have peace with me and have me send the fury of my archer horde at the other. Now that I have city walls and archers on a hill, I don't see the Stone Table cracking shy of catapults.

Thanks a ton for continuing to update your thread regularly even if you've been reduced to playing the spoiler role. I'm having a lot of fun reading about it.
Maybe you can even make some demands with the threat of archers pouring into someone's lands for hundreds of years to come!

Scooter wasn't interested:
Quote:Dazed,
Honestly, it's a two sided coin to me. I don't see what I gain from letting you live. Sure I can't kill you now, but I'll be teching much quicker than you, and archers don't have THAT long of a shelf life. They'll be very much mortal in not that long. Not to mention I'm preventing you from making tile improvements. Honestly, all it'll take is catapults.
Honestly I'd like my mainland tied down so I can start expanding overseas. I have a city to your north, your east, your southeast, and soon your southwest. What benefit is there to peace? It's not that I'm stubbornly hanging onto this war or anything, it's more that it goes like this. From staying at war, I gain this:
-I keep you from improving tiles, meaning you grow, produce, and tech as slowly as possible
-I gain a city as soon as I can take it, which won't be in the next five turns, but may very well be in less than thirty
-I tie down my mainland, having secured a LOT of land and can begin pushing overseas in earnest.
I'm not sure that with peace, you can come up with an offer that can top all those things... And that's really what it comes down to...
scooter
Serdoa was slightly more open:
Quote:Dazed,
I agree that you got yourself in a good defendable position. But I am not sure what exactly you think I should propose here. What do you have in mind? I take it you do not even think about requesting cities right?
Kind regards,
Serdoa
We'll see if I can work it out with him:
Quote:No no! I know I'm not gonna win and don't have any chance at a city. I was thinking more like an axe or two or some other military benefit to help me against scooter. I'd be willing to sign a deal ensuring I would not attack you. Basically you'd be supporting guerilla warfare against your new direct southern opponent. If you don't feel comfortable with those tactics, I will manage on my own fine but I think you night have a vested interest in seeing scooter pestered since he got the majority of my former land and the prime capital location. Let me know I you're interested.
