Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Welcome to Realms Beyond Civilization!

Hello! wow, am I the last to join since march? Or perhaps its due to Civ V/ other games, as this is the Civ IV section.

In any event, I'm sorry if this appears a necro, but this seems to be the welcome thread so ... Hello everyone!

I must say, FFH2 is my greatest hobby, and my greatest interest above all else is to participate in any future FFH2 PBEMs. (as well as get a few to join the dark side of simul turn every once in a while ... smile )

I could certainly try to participate in BTS pbems ... but Im really, REALLY bad at BTS ...

BTS I play Noble/Prince

FFH2 I play Emperor/Immortal

perhaps its due to the nature of the mod (FFH), and the weaker AI which raises the diff level I can play at ....

but I've clocked easily 1000 hours on FFH2, while perhaps less than 100 hours on BTS.

I'd say about 200 of those 1000 FFH2 hours could be attributed to MP, while another 200 could be attributed to (attempted) modding of FFH2.

However, most of those MP games were very casual "role play" type games, with very ambiguous rule sets (which sometimes caused frustration and misunderstanding during/because of wars, religion choices, etc), and usually against those who were either new to MP or new to FFH.

Wars (I would assume) play quite a bit differently in PBEM than in simul ... at least once you get late game toys such as Magic and Collateral damage.

For instance ... in Simul you can continue to move units into a city once the human starts attacking said city. Also, a player can order production ques or slave whip a city as its being attacked (if said city is lost while defending player is "inside" the city, said defending player suffers CTD, and rehost is required/encouraged).

Therefore, I consider myself almost completely green for the world of PBEM ffh2.

As is, I would certainly love to join an FFH2 PBEM game, and eagerly anticipate joining this community! smile

So please, feel free to approach me about anything and everything concerning FFH2, and as for the rest ... if anyone needs a green-horn player somewhere, I will try my best time-permitting smile

Edit: I was originally pointed towards this site via Sulla's website, and then once again by a fellow player of FFH2

Tasunke, welcome aboard. I might venture to guess that Lime green borders are a particular favorite of yours?

When it comes to getting a game - probably the best bet is to simply start a recruitment thread in this forum, the Civ General Discussion one. Assuming it's been long enough since the last one started, you're likely to get a bunch of interested souls signing up pretty quickly. Although, as you can see from my signature, I'm a tad busy at the moment, there's lots of people around who are in better shape.

In the meantime, you might enjoy some of the adventures: interesting single-player scenarios, usually hand-crafted. They're generally over for competition purposes, but we'd still be interested in seeing if you can show us any fun tricks.

This thread is the official place for setting up online games. I know there have been several FfH games played there; not sure about simultaneous turns.

In order that Tasunke doesn't feel like he's the last signing on, I thought I'd register my membership here also.

I was directed here by Tholal on the Civfanatics web site, as I had expressed that I'd be interested in FFH2 PBEM games, and apparently that was more likely here.

Having said that, I'm already at my limit for current PBEM games, but I thought I'd say "hi" all the same.

Hi!

Long time lurker, first time player in PBEM25. (spoiler thread here) I arrived here after reading some of the old adventures and, of course, Sulla's site.

I delayed posting in this thread until my first MP empire survived without the ancient age. It's been a blast so far, and I'm happy I've gotten engaged.

Thanks to the old guard for making this an honorable place. I know of no other site where people post their war plans one click away from their enemy's war plans... and rely on honor to prevent spying.

Hi. I've been a long time lurker, since around PB2. Figured I should just post here.

Some info about me! I got into Civ around when PB2 started, kinda feel out of it soon afterwards. I found LoL stuff by Sullla about a month ago, and on and off read this site. I found the discussion on the "next metagame" interesting on the LoL part of this site, and figured if I wanted to post in it I needed an account. So, here is my account. Thats basically everything about me. I'm a subpar Civ player who screws around with friends on it, and play LoL.
