If you read the lurker thread you’ll see a few of us there also aren’t convinced whether the village is better off guessing the word.

From my perspective, being mayor was fun, but the game needs some changes to be playable by forum. While it is totally reasonable for players to want to know the answers to previous questions before posing new ones, that forces the mayor to be someone like me working from home who can respond to notifications promptly for the majority of the day.

Some kind of batching of questions would help, but the players also need something to talk about all day or you risk lowered engagement.

So like Gaspar and I just chatted quick over IM once he got home. We'd been talking about the WW game a lot privately (By which I mean WW46 not this one) and when we saw the superdeath question we were both like...  yikes but we didn't say more. So when the bell rang I knew we were at least hitting SD so I put that order in and waited for Gaspar, then we did a run down of the possible seer:

Lewwyn: HEY
Gaspar: yo
Lewwyn: so I put the kill order in on superdeath, you have to put an order in too, who you got as #2 seer?
Gaspar: scooter i think
Lewwyn: sure
Gaspar: he reacted most strongly to SD
Lewwyn: I mean lol i think its obvs superdeath but Scooter is probs second at the end here
Gaspar: yeah
ill put the kill order in unless theres anything else worth considering
Lewwyn: Run down: azoth and thrawn are clear, grillo clear, serdoa I don't see it, Kaiser too oblivious, Superdeath is dead, scooter cyne are the only other 2 left
Gaspar: yeah
i dont see it on cyne either
i mean its sd
Lewwyn: hhaaha
Gaspar: but scooter seems like the reasonable next choice
Lewwyn: Kill scooter for kicks

I definitely thought that we should just move the village toward getting the word and then taking our Seer shot. That's why I as helpful as I was. I was doing some misleading but also some leading. El Grillo any thought I might be a wolf when you did your Way way off? That post WAS designed to to help make the village go a bit down the garden path and waste some time.

It didn’t really cross my mind. I suppose I could’ve played more scummy but tried to get the correct word at the end anyway, but this was more of a proof of concept so I just played my role straight.

Crosspost, nevermind.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Yeah overall I'm not sure this worked that well via forum. I don't have any suggestions, but I feel like it would need to be tweaked pretty heavily to make it work.

Curious why you guys thought thrawn was clear? I thought there was a slight chance you might also go for him due to his subtitle question.

Yeah I saw that. So, I actually asked Brick if I could try to prevent us from guessing the word if/when I got a wolf read. I basically asked "can I waste all the town's remaining questions by putting out a bunch of nonsense questions in order to force us to fail so I can lynch a wolf?"

Anyway the short of it is it was legal, but it probably won't be next time. wink

scooter asking 30 questions in one post to "throw" the phase for the village definitely seemed legal, sure.

i thought it was pretty fun. Would be nice to have another role or two in it. Maybe a jester?
