So are all my pleas for more workers finally paying off?

Mackoti just proposed open borders. i think we should reject it, for now. It would give him a huge boost in trade route income, but it wouldn't do anything for us until we get sailing or more roads.

Yeah, I think we should pass on that "offer"
Too bad we don't have Commerce or Alphabet; maybe later on we can give him a counter-offer*
*Possible future counter-offer could be one of knights. Lots of knights.
Edit: Wait, this means the turn is up!

Yeah, and this was a tricky turn too. First that open borders thing, and also this situation in the north:
![[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0268.JPG]](http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26110875/Civ4ScreenShot0268.JPG)
(that's a phalanx, not a spearman)
I declined the open borders, but offered him a fish instead. It won't do anything, since he already has 2 fish, but hopefully he'll interpret that as a gesture of peace. Meanwhile, I moved up both the impi and the warrior next to the barb warrior. Hopefully the barb warrior will attack us, so we don't have to worry about guarding the worker, then we can move the impi up to guard that jungle hill spot where we want to settle. With the 75% defense bonus, it's a match for a phalanx.
In the south, fierce has another spear. Geez;; and he still only has 3 cities! ALL his cities are right on our border! I set the capital to building another axe. I also whipped HappyAnniv- it can overflow into a WB for scouting, or just make another axe to be safe.
And man... Look at this power graph! There's a strong possibility that Fierce is planning to declare war on us.

I think Long Goodbye needs to go into pure military until we feel good about our southern border.
I wonder if Fierce has been squeezed both ways. I would like a scouting work boat out of Happy Anniv just to see the situation on his other border. I think that would be some valuable information.

Saw the save when I got up this morning and took a stab at it. Thanks for the signs, they made the turn really easy to play!
First off, we had some activity on the interturn:
Our warrior is at 0.2/2 so I sent him back to town. Mackoti's phalanx has backed off because another barb is sitting 2N of where the impi is in this photo. It should suicide against mackoti's phalanx.
And you can see NoSpace built Stonehenge. I guess they hooked up the stone and figured "Why not?"
Not much else, I followed the signs and chose to go with a work boat out of Happy Anniv. We can open borders with Yuris & NoSpace, but not yet Fierce, so aside from a war dec I think the wb will have to scout north first, so now I"m wondering if it was a good choice. Oh, I also put our research at 50% science towards Sailing. We don't lose any beakers due to rounding at that rate. But I'm thinking maybe we want to get Writing up because I saw the demos:
Last in GNP. Calendar won't really help with that much -- all our calendar resources are the food ones.

Great! I was worried that the barb warrior or Mackoti's phalanx would really screw up our plans.
I wouldn't worry too much about the GNP- it'll pick up fast as we grow our cities and start working more cottages. Building Ikhandas will help, too, and getting foreign trade routes.

Not too much going on this turn. I whipped the settler in Hercules, and another one finished in Long Goodbye. NS7 proposed open borders, but I turned them down too.
No more units from fierce this turn, but if he does build more then maybe we should settle somewhere else instead of the stone. Like, on the Inland sea near the clams? I was thinking that the capital can start on another settler after it grows, which will coincide with a chop. That settler can go east to the dear/fish site.

There's always the site west of the capital, by the rice & clams & borrowing the rice from the capital. This could be a good great person or cottage city, choice is ours really. But it seems a great location to whip out a library and get our first Gr. Sci from
