You can go a religious route without Spi if you wish to. Spi is a tricky trait to use. You probably have more experiene with it than me, cause I've never used it in a real game.

Imp could be a nice fit. Faster GG and faster Stables for the Knight conquest. Plus faster Settlers for early game benefit.

I wanted to use SPI in one pitboss, but then Commodore rushed me with Skirmishers.. pb41..? I think it was.

Anyway. I think we pick civilization first. When it comes right down to it... if Byzantium and Arabia are both up for grabs, Cata's are WAY more powerful than Camel archers and both start with the same Wheel + Mysticism.

Leaders im looking forward to, Any SPI+ either PRO/IMP/EXP. Or...... PRO+whatever, as i think its still fairly op. Agriculture>Mining>BW>Fishing>Religion? Hmm..

Yeah Byz is probably still stronger, but Arabia can be the back-up if it's gone.

If I was your neighbor, I'd expect the Knight attack, so having cheap walls and free promos for archers/longbows could be good if someone tries to strike you first. And obviously the eco boost is nice.

How do you plan to make use of SPI?

Make use of SPI by not having to wait for Golden ages to swap into every civic i need. + I believe SPI gives bonus hammers towards temples/ect.. Plus im kinda wanting to play super optimal this game, and SPI would be just the tool to give me that power.. I can still be talked outta SPI if you wanna go like, IMP/PRO byzant. With Arabia as backup, and.... idk what as a backup if that gets taken.

You should play SPI if you want to, I'm just picking your brain. It's good to ask yourself why you're picking it and come up with a game plan.

It looks like you can change civics every 5 turns. But for constant switching there's not many options before the Knight attack. Unless you take detours, you'd be using HR/Vass/Slavery/OR, with only really Serfdom as something to switch to. It will be useful later in the game, but I don't know how useful. I guess that's one reason to take the trait, to learn how to play with it and how good it is

For early game, Slavery would lose 1 turn, but HR/Vass/OR swap can be timed with your first GA. CoL/CS/Theo aren't too far off, but I'd imagine you want to go for Knights ASAP before enemies get Engineering.

Btw noticed that Arabia's Madrassa allows two Priest specialists. Could get your shrine up with those.
