I'd argue El Grillo in PB54 was kinda rushy with the lighthouse (Charlie though)

Moved, didn't spot anything good, settled in place:
![]() 1NE would have lost out on sea access, cows and crabs, but gained deer and gold. Early gold at the cost of a worse capital long term. Probably not worth it. We can settle a second city on that plains hill to pick up both deer and gold, and make a nice canal without needing forts.
I think it'll work. Early worker strats did not leave enough for the worker to do due to our starting techs.
WB into worker and rush BW for early chops nets us at least an extra worker, but leaves us behind in city size, tech, with forests gone, and no lighthouses. Here's the Lighthouse plan: ![]() Tech: Sailing -> Mining -> BW -> Mysticism -> Meditation -> The Wheel -> AH Capital: WB -> Trading Post -> Warrior -> Settler (2-pop whip) -> Worker -> Warrior (grow back to size 5) -> Worker/settler (whip) 2nd city: Settled on T33. Trading Post -> Warrior/WB (for growth) Worker: Improve deer -> Improve gold (border pop by holy city in time, works even if it spawns in capital) It would look something like this: ![]()
Mjmd and Amicalola both ended turn without settling a city. We know this from demographics. Wonder if they scouted NW and found something good.
If they are taking 2 extra turns to settle on one of the deer/gold hills that can't be worth it..
As long as you have a second city, the holy city never spawns in your capitol

It won't be a very fast start, but it never will be with this start and starting techs. ![]() Second city gets a fish tile! At least one player had 9 land tiles, so a complete inland start (settling on T0 or T1). Maybe the starts aren't mirrored. Hm, I guess you could settle on the Sugar to get both cows and deer, and maybe another resource in the fogged tile 2N of cows. |
