BBG is for online speed dirct MP. That probably changes the desired balance some. For instance the unit production buff of the Aztecs is likely less impactful with online speed.

I'm curious if anyone ever wins culture victories in these online speed games. Seems like a lot of the energy in the changes was focused there.

COL in. Swapped to God King/Discipline (going to be a while before I get to research Astrology with Archduke this close). Craftmanship as the next research target. Not sure if I'll wait to improve three tiles or just rush it to spam slingers for archer upgrades. Depends on how many turns building the settler takes.

Also decided on a naming scheme. Each city will be named after a character of a recent TV show, HBO's The Gilded Age. To put on my shill hat for a moment, you (hypothetical reader) should totally watch it if you have the time and the financial means.

AH in, and of course there are no horses in the capital BFC. Archery next. Started a settler due in 9 turns.

Scouting with my two warriors shows that I think Archduke is not rushing me right this instant. So I should be good to go back and pick up the barb camp, if it's still alive.

Quarried one of the stones with my builder. Capital would benefit from a 2/2 tile and it boosts masonry.

I'm going to have to think a lot about where my next city is going to go. Needs to be good in food and production to make up for the lack of that in the capital. So I'll be looking at this screenshot a lot today.

A barb camp spawned to the northeast which I just cleared. The barb scout by my capital will hopefully suicide or run away, if not my settler is going to be delayed. Planning to send it northeast as well. Holding archery until I can boost it, same with craftmanship. I think barb strength got nerfed in BBG, I had a fight with a barb spear who died in 2 hits against my warrior on a hill

there's a lot i could have done to make his invasion more contested. I would like to apologize to the other players in the game for mostly playing on autopilot the past 60 turns. I wasn't giving the most sporting chance, I haven't had the time to give the game the competition it deserves.
